LG has officially launched the StandbyME 2 Max in South Korea. The portable lifestyle TV is available starting today at a price of 1.59 million Korean won (approximately $1,080).

The StandbyME 2 Max features a 32-inch 4K UHD touchscreen display with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. LG has equipped the TV with its Alpha8 Gen3 AI processor, which enhances picture and sound quality through AI technology. The device improves video quality with AI 4K upscaling, advanced HDR support (Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG), and dynamic tone mapping for better contrast, color accuracy, and vibrant visuals.

LG designed the TV to prioritize portability and flexibility. The device includes a built-in 144Wh battery, allowing up to 4.5 hours of wireless operation on a single charge. The display can detach from its stand at the press of a button and be used as a tabletop or wall-mounted screen.

LG also offers optional accessories, including a one-click stand, a moving wheel stand, and a wall strap. These can be purchased separately to adapt the TV to various uses, such as video calling, gaming, and streaming.

The TV operates on webOS 26, which supports a range of smart features. The OS includes built-in apps for popular platforms like Netflix, YouTube, and Apple TV, along with access to LG Channels offering free content. It also supports Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, HomeKit, far-field voice commands, and device mirroring for Android and iOS.

For audio, the TV features an 11.1.2 channel stereo system with Dolby Atmos and Virtual Surround Sound for an immersive experience. It also includes Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, one HDMI port, and four USB-C ports for connectivity.

LG has designed the StandbyME 2 Max with a slim, minimalist frame, measuring just 28.5mm in thickness without the stand. The screen doubles as an interior decor piece, allowing users to showcase content like art pieces, clocks, or weather displays using the LG Gallery+ service.

Samsung has launched The Movingstyle portable smart TV in the UK. The 27-inch QHD display is now available for purchase at £1,199 through Samsung UK’s official website and other authorized retailers. The portable TV, which previously launched in South Korea and the US, comes in a white finish.

Samsung The Movingstyle Specifications

The Movingstyle features a detachable screen and a rollable floor stand. The screen supports QHD resolution (2560 x 1440) and a 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung has equipped the display with HDR10+ Adaptive, Motion Xcelerator 120Hz, and the NQ4 AI Gen2 processor. This processor uses 20 neural networks to optimize brightness, contrast, motion, and audio in real time.

The portable TV weighs 25.7 kg with the stand and 5.2 kg without it. The integrated battery offers up to three hours of viewing time without a power outlet. The screen can be tilted ±35°, swiveled ±30°, pivoted 90°, and adjusted vertically by 21 cm. The Movingstyle also includes an integrated kickstand that doubles as a carry handle.

Samsung runs its Tizen OS on The Movingstyle. The smart interface supports apps like Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, and Samsung TV Plus. The device also supports Samsung Gaming Hub, which allows access to Xbox Cloud Gaming without the need for a console.

For audio, the TV uses a 2-channel 10W speaker setup with Dolby Atmos and OTS Lite handling spatial cues. It also features Q-Symphony, which syncs the TV’s speakers with compatible Samsung soundbars to deliver a fuller, more cohesive soundstage.

The TV supports two-way touch interaction, allowing direct touch controls as well as mirroring from mobile devices. It comes with two USB-C ports, one HDMI port (eARC supported), Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.3.

Samsung includes lifestyle features such as Art Store access, Daily Board widgets, generative AI wallpapers, and Samsung Daily+ apps for health, productivity, and entertainment. The TV also supports Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, and voice assistants like Alexa and Bixby.

Samsung promises at least five years of software security updates, with support listed through December 2030.

With CES 2022 event being around the corner, we can expect to see new technologically innovative gadgets from various brands surfacing soon. But prior to the event, LG has already showcased an upcoming product that seems quite unique and interesting in its practicality.

The South Korean tech giant is known for its high end TVs that feature cutting edge OLED, mini LED, MicroLED, and other such display technologies. Now, the brand is working on another new TV, but this time, its portable since it can be wheeled around and is powered by a built in battery pack. This upcoming TV in question is the LG StandbyME, which is a 27 inch TV that runs on a battery and can be moved around thanks to the wheels on its height adjustable stand.

While you can detach the screen from the stand, the TV can be swiveled, tilted, rotated, and even oriented in a portrait mode when attached to this stand. As per official notes, the StandbyME TV can last for up to 3 hours on a single full charge. So, you can expect to watch a couple of episodes of a series or roughly a full length movie as well. Although, this might not be enough for some lengthy titles and is not suitable for a movie marathon either.

Unfortunately, since LG doesn’t make a 27 inch OLED panel, you get an LCD screen on this portable TV. At the moment, finer details regarding this display like its resolution and other features are currently unknown. However, StandbyME does support touch interface and will even offer streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and YouTube. It houses a USB port and at least one HDMI port as well. The pricing for this portable TV is currently unknown, but we can expect to hear more about it soon. So stick around for more updates.
