The realme 7i is a cheaper version of the vanilla realme 7. The smartphone debuted with realme UI based on Android 10. The company released the Android 11-based realme UI 2.0 Early Access update for this handset in February. Now, three months later, the phone has started receiving the stable update.

OEMs have been rolling out Android 11 update to their eligible devices since late last year. But some companies have been struggling to deliver the update though they have a huge customer base and brand presence in multiple markets. Oujia brands OnePlus and realme are two such companies.

For those unaware, realme has been running the Android 11 (realme UI 2.0) beta program since September. But the brand has managed to provide the stable update to only a handful of devices.

The latest handset to join this elite list is the realme 7i. According to the official announcement post on realme Community, the Android 11 stable update for this smartphone arrives with firmware version RMX2103_C.05.

As per the brand, users should be on either of these three firmware builds to receive the realme UI 2 .0 update via OTA.

Chinese handset maker realme has been seeding out Android 11-based realme UI 2.0 builds to its smartphones for quite a while now. However, only one device (realme X50 Pro) has received the stable update so far. Whereas, others are still in beta and now, the company has started recruiting testers for one more model.

The latest device to join the realme UI 2.0 Early Access program is realme 7i. For those unaware, this handset is a toned-down version of the standard realme 7 powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 instead of MediaTek Helio G95.

Interested users of this phone can enroll in the Android 11-based realme UI 2.0 Early Access program by heading over to Settings > Software Update > Gear Icon > Trial Version > Apply Now and submit details.  However, the device should be on build number RMX2103PU_11.A.37 to detect the registration form.

Further, selected users will be getting the beta update via OTA in the coming days. They can roll back to the stable version if they want to but the process will wipe the phone’s internal storage. Also, once reverted, this unit cannot join the Early Acess program again.

That said, apart from realme 7i, realme 6i and realme narzo 10 should also receive Android 11 beta update this month, as per the schedule.

In Europe, Realme has been three Realme 7 series of smartphones such as Realme 7, Realme 7 Pro, and Realme 7 5G. The Realme 7i is the latest phone from the company to go official in Europe. It is not the same Snapdragon 662 powered Realme 7i that is available in India and other Asian markets. The Realme 7i for Europe is a rebadged version of the Narzo 20.

Realme 7i specifications

The Realme 7i has a 6.5-inch HD+ resolution supporting LCD screen. The teardrop notch display offers a screen space of 88.7 percent. The Helio G85 chipset by MediaTek is present under the hood of the Realme 7i along with 4 GB of RAM.

The smartphone ships with a native storage of 64 GB and it has a dedicated microSD card slot for additional storage. The Realme UI based Android 10 OS comes preloaded on the smartphone.

The Realme 7i has a 6,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. The handset supports the reverse charging function. Placed on the front is an 8-megapixel AI selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The back panel of the device has a triple camera system that includes a 48-megapixel main lens with f/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultrawide shooter, and a 2-megapixel camera with a 4cm focal length.

A rear-mounted fingerprint scanner is available on the Realme 7i. It is packed with other features such as dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The Realme 7i is priced at 159 euros (~$192) in Europe and its color variants are Glory Silver and Victory Blue. The official listing states that the Realme 7i is heading to markets like Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, and Portugal.

There are only marginal differences and what really changes are the color variants. Given that it is thinner and lighter, my favorite one is the OnePlus Nord N100. But the Samsung Galaxy A21s is slightly more compact, so it is a great option too. The Realme 7i has more interesting color variants thanks to its reflective back, and its display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

Display

If you expect a great display, you should not go for any of these phones. In each case, you get a below-average LCD panel with an HD+ resolution (720p). We are not saying these panels are bad, but you can find a lot of better displays in the market. Samsung Galaxy A21s is the most disappointing as the OnePlus Nord N100 and Realme 7i come with a 90 Hz refresh rate, while the Galaxy A21s has just 60 Hz. The display of the OnePlus Nord N100 is slightly wider compared to the Realme 7i.

Hardware/Software

The best chipset is the one found on the Samsung Galaxy A21s. It is very powerful for a so affordable phone, and it is very efficient because it is built with an 8 nm production process. The Realme 7i offers great performance as well thanks to its Helio G85 and, in its most expensive configuration, it offers a higher amount of RAM compared to the Samsung Galaxy A21s (8 GB vs 6 GB). Further, the Realme 7i has UFS 2.1 internal storage, while Samsung Galaxy A21s is based on eMMC storage. My choice would actually be the Realme 7i despite the SoC of the Samsung Galaxy A21s is more efficient. All of these devices run Android 10, but we know OnePlus Nord N100 will only get one year of major updates.

Camera

The Realme 7i’s camera department varies depending on the market: in Asia, you get an amazing 64 MP rear camera, while in Europe, it has a 48 MP main camera. In both cases, we are talking about the best rear camera department of this trio. Even the front camera is actually better. The second place goes to the Samsung Galaxy A21s packing a 48 MP quad-camera and a 13 MP selfie camera, while OnePlus Nord N100 is disappointing with its 13 MP rear camera.

Battery

Realme 7i is the battery champion as it packs a bigger 6000 mAh battery. Samsung Galaxy A21s and OnePlus Nord N100 remain amazing battery phones, but they have just 5000 mAh.

Price

OnePlus Nord N100 is priced at €200/$245, Realme 7i costs €170/$208, and Samsung Galaxy A21s is priced less than €200. The winner of the comparison is the Realme 7i due to its great hardware department, very nice cameras, and a bigger battery.

If you are a gamer, you might prefer the Realme 7i because the 90 Hz refresh rate offers big advantages during gaming sessions, but for the rest, you should go for the POCO M3 as it comes with a 1080p display and stereo speakers offering a better audio experience.

Hardware/Software

A lot of people trust Qualcomm processors more than MediaTek ones. But the Helio G85 found on the Redmi Note 9 is actually more impressive than the Snapdragon 662 found on the POCO M3 and the Asian version of the Realme 7i. If you just do not like the OPPO F17, you could go for the Realme 7i as it features a 90 Hz refresh rate, but you would get a lower HD+ resolution. The most powerful hardware departments belong to the OPPO F17 and Realme 7i offering the same components. Realme took the wraps off the Realme 7i on Wednesday in India alongside several other AIOT products. The company has now released an early unboxing video of the device giving us a glimpse of the device, its key specs and what is inside the box.

The video shows that the device will ship with a TPU case, an 18W charging adapter and USB-C chord. You also get the option of a Fusion Green and Fusion Blue color variant on the device.

As a reminder, the Realme 7i packs a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD screen with 90Hz refresh rate. The display feature a punch-hole design located at the upper-left corner and which houses a 16MP selfie camera.

The phone equally packs a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well as a Quad-camera setup. The camera includes a 64MP primary sensor as well as an 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor.

The premium mid-ranger is powered has a Snapdragon 662 SoC paired with 4GB RAM. There are two storage options – 64GB and 128GB. But it also comes with a dedicated slot for a microSD card for storage expansion. The smartphone runs on Android 10-based Realme UI. The Realme 7i wins the hardware comparison. What makes its better is not the chipset, but its memory configuration. It sports 8 GB of RAM, while you can get max 4 or 6 GB of RAM with Redmi Note 9 and POCO M2. Further, while Redmi Note 9 and POCO M2 are equipped with eMMC internal storage, Realme 7i has faster UFS 2.1 native storage with a 128 GB capacity. Also, consider that the Snapdragon 662 is built with a better production process than Helio G80 and Helio G85 (11 nm vs 12 nm), so it is even less energy-demanding. Last but not least, the 90 Hz refresh rate will let the Realme 7i look smoother (but as said above, say goodbye to FHD+ resolution). If you need the device with the best performance, go for the Realme 7i. All run Android 10 out of the box.

Camera

Given that the Realme 7i has a better main sensor for its rear camera setup, it wins the camera comparison as well. It sports a 64 MP midrange-class main camera paired with an 8 MP ultrawide lens and a pair of 2 MP lens for macro and depth info. The secondary sensors are the same as Redmi Note 9 and POCO M2, but the main sensor changes. The Redmi Note 9 is superior to the POCO M2 thanks to its 48 MP main sensor. Besides being a better camera phone, Realme 7i is even a better selfie phone thanks to its 16 MP front snapper.

Battery

There are no huge differences between the battery life of these handsets: they have more or less the same battery capacity (around 5000 mAh), but given that Realme 7i has a lower display resolution and a more efficient chipset, it should last a bit more. On the other hand, Redmi Note 9 supports reverse charging and it can be used as a power bank.

Realme 7i is priced Rs. 11,999 / $164 in India (8/128 GB), Redmi Note 9 costs Rs. 12,499 / $170 (4/64 GB), and POCO M2 costs Rs. 10,999 / $150 (6/64 GB). realme has finally set the date for launching its realme 7i, 55-inch SLED TV, a “sun-kissed leather” special edition of Realme 7 Pro, and other smart products in India. The company confirmed the October 7 event via Twitter and also said that it is ready to launch a range of products to focus on the “1+4+N” strategy.

realme will live stream the event on its social media channels like YouTube. The event will take place virtually on October 7, 12:30 PM IST, and will include smart AIoT products as well. Talking about the realme 7i, the device first debuted in Indonesia on September 17 for $214(~₹15,800). Then, its official support page went live in India a few days back. Thanks to the leaks, we already know the color variants that are coming to India.

The device will arrive in Polar Blue and Aurora Green colors and features a 6.5-inch HD+ punch-hole display. The display is LCD and has a 90Hz refresh rate. realme announced its new AIoT products at the IFA 2020 a while ago. The company also shortly teased the Watch S Pro at the event. If you are looking for the most modern and elegant design, we believe you should go for the Realme 7i. Redmi 9i is priced about €100/$118, Realme 7i costs about €180/$213, and you need about €200/$237 to grab a unit of the Honor 30i. At the moment, none of these devices is on sale in the Old Continent: you can only find them in Asia. You should go for the Redmi 9i only if you want to save money: it offers a good user experience, but it can not compete with the Realme 7i and the Honor 30i in any way. Last week, the renders of the phone were found listed on an Indonesian retailer site. Also, a recent leak had revealed the entire specs of the Realme 7i. Today, the smartphone has appeared on Geekbench benchmarking with key specs.

On Geekbench 5, the Realme 7i has appeared with its RMX2103 model number. The listing reveals that the phone is driven by a Qualcomm processor that is codenamed as ‘bengal’ which is associated with Snapdragon 460 and Snapdragon 662 chipsets. However, it is known through the specs sheet leak that the device is equipped with Snapdragon 662 chipset.

The listing first (spotted by MyFixGuide) revealed that the phone has a rated battery of 4,890mAh capacity. The certification also confirmed that the phone will arrive with support for 18W fast charging. As far as Realme C17 is concerned, the next C-series phone was approved by Indonesia’s TKDN authority in May.
