One year ago it was almost impossible to find an affordable 5G phone in several countries. But now, midrange 5G phones are all around the place and they are becoming every day more affordable. Now, even the Redmi series contains 5G phones. The latest ones are the Redmi Note 9 5G and the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G. After comparing the vanilla variant to Realme 7 5G and Moto G 5G, we decided to compare the Note 9 Pro 5G with the other devices sold in the same price range. The latest 5G phones offered at similar prices are the OnePlus Nord N10 5G and the Realme Q2 Pro, and this is a comparison between their specifications.

Design

If I had to judge the design of these handsets, I would say the Realme Q2 Pro is the best one. It lacks the glass back found on the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G, but it has a less invasive camera module, it is lighter and it is even more compact and thinner. But with the Note 9 Pro 5G, you actually get the best build quality. Besides the glass back, the handset also offers the IP53 certification making it splash resistant and dust resistant. It has a water-repellent body and even the Gorilla Glass 5 protection for both the front glass and the rear glass.

Display

Even when it comes to the display, I would choose the Realme Q2 Pro. It is the only device of this comparison to feature a Super AMOLED display and it can show more vibrant colors, as well as very deep blacks. Further, with the Realme Q2 Pro, you get an in-display fingerprint scanner which is definitely more comfortable than the rear-mounted and side-mounted fingerprint reader you get with Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G and OnePlus Nord N10 5G. The second place in the display ranking goes to the Note 9 Pro 5G featuring an IPS panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate and the HDR10+ certification. OnePlus Nord N10 5G has an average IPS display with 90 Hz refresh rate.

Hardware/Software

The most advanced and most appreciated hardware department is offered by the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G which is fueled by the Snapdragon 750G mobile platform paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. But its two rivals are not far away: they provide more or less the same performance with their Snapdragon 690 5G and Dimensity 800U chipset paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of UFS 2.1 storage. All run Android 10 out of the box.

Camera

The most stunning camera is offered by the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G: you get the same 108 MP camera sensor found on the Xiaomi Mi 10, but it lacks OIS. The secondary sensors are the same on all of these devices: an 8 MP ultrawide lens and a pair of 2 MP sensor for macro and depth. But the main camera sensor changes: Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G gets the best one, followed by the OnePlus Nord N10 5G with a 64 MP camera. The Realme Q2 Pro has a lower-end 48 MP sensor, but you do not get huge differences in terms of photo quality if you compare it to the OnePlus Nord N10 5G.

Battery

The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G has the biggest battery with a capacity of 4820 mAh: if you do not use the maximum refresh rate, you get a way longer battery life with this handset. But OnePlus Nord N10 5G and Realme Q2 Pro are still good battery phones with their 4300 mAh units. With Realme Q2 Pro you get the amazing 65W fast charging technology found on OPPO and Realme flagships allowing you to charge the phone a lot faster. With Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G and OnePlus Nord N10 5G, you only get 33W and 30W powers, respectively.

Price

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G in China with a starting price of about $330/€272, while Realme Q2 Pro is priced at about $320/€265 in its base variant. The OnePlus Nord N10 5G actually sells for less than $320/€265 in China, but it costs a bit more in the global market. We do not see any reason to go for the OnePlus Nord N10 5G. The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G offers the most advanced camera, great build quality, slightly better hardware department (with Snapdragon 750G and UFS 2.2 storage), and a bigger battery, while the advantages of the Realme Q2 Pro are mainly its Super AMOLED display and 65W fast charging. In October, Realme announced the Realme Q2 series of smartphones in China. As the name goes, the Realme Q2 Pro is the most powerful device in the series. It had arrived in two color options such as Rainbow gradient color and Light Tide Gray. Today, the company announced the arrival of two new color variants for the Q2 Pro.

As can be seen in the poster, the Realme Q2 Pro 5G will be available in two new colors such as Fantasy White and Fantasy Blue from Dec. 12. The company also confirmed that the 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant of the Realme Q2 Pro will be available with reduced pricing of 1,499 Yuan (~$229). At launch, it was priced at 1,599 Yuan (~$244).

Realme Q2 Pro 5G specifications

The Realme Q2 Pro has a 6.4-inch S-AMOLED display that produces a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The display is integrated with a fingerprint reader. The Realme UI based Android 10 OS comes preinstalled on the smartphone.

The MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset fuels the Realme Q2 Pro along with 8 GB of RAM. The phone is available in China in storage choices like 128 GB and 256 GB. It lacks a microSD card slot.

The Q2 Pro is backed by a 4,300mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging  The phone has a front-facing camera of 16-megapixel and its rear-mounted camera module comprises a 48-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

Realme held a launch event this morning in China to announce the Realme Q2 series of smartphones. The series includes three devices such as Realme Q2i 5G, Realme Q2 5G, and Realme Q2 Pro 5G. Here is all the information on the specifications, features, and pricing of the Realme Q2 series.

Realme Q2 and Q2 Pro specifications and features

The Realme Q2 5G has a 120Hz refresh rate supporting LCD panel. The punch-hole screen display produces full HD+ resolution and a 20:9 aspect ratio. It offers a screen-to-body ratio of 90.7 precent. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Realme Q2 Pro 5G has a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a punch-hole design. It offers full HD+ resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, 180Hz touch sampling rate. The display is integrated with a fingerprint sensor. The Q2 Pro offers a screen space of 90.8 percent. Both displays are protected by Gorilla Glass panels.

The Realme Q2 5G and Q2 Pro 5Gsmartphones are fueled by the Dimensity 800U chipset. The Q2 comes with up to 6 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.1 storage. The Realme Q2i 5G is a polycarbonate-bodied smartphone with a 6.5-inch IPS LCD panel. The waterdrop notch screen offers HD+ resolution and a 20:9 aspect ratio. It delivers a screen-to-body ratio of 88.7 precent. The handset is preinstalled with Realme UI 2.0 flavored Android 10 OS.

The Realme Q2i 5G has an 8-megapixel selfie snapper. Its rear has a square-shaped camera housing that features a 13-megapixel primary shooter with f/2.2 aperture, a 2-megapixel macro lens with a 4cm focal length, and a 2-megapixel depth assist lens. It has a rear-positioned fingerprint sensor.

The Dimensity 720 chipset is present under the hood of the Realme Q2i. The phone offers users with 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB of built-in storage, and a microSD card slot. It has a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.

Realme will be announcing the Realme Q2 series of smartphones in China tomorrow. Based on the rumors surrounding the Q2 series, it can be said that the lineup includes two phones namely, the Realme Q2 and Realme Q2 Pro. It is speculated that these are RMX2117 and RMX2173 phones that were approved by the TENAA authority of China in September. Tomorrow’s Q2 series launch will also see the arrival of the Realme Buds Air Pro and an Electric Toothbrush in the home market. Ahead of the launch, a reliable tipster took to Weibo to share the key details of the Realme Q2.

The tipster has revealed that the Realme Q2 could be priced between 1,299 Yuan (~$194) and 1,599 Yuan (~$239). The phone will be flaunting an LCD screen that delivers up to 120Hz refresh rate. It will be fueled by the Dimensity 800U chipset by MediaTek.

The Realme Q2 will receive the power to perform from a 5,000mAh battery. The phone will carry support for 30W VOOC 4.0 Flash Charge technology. For photography, it is equipped with a 48-megapixel triple camera system.

The Weibo post that reveals the above specs also carries an image. It seems to belong to the Realme Q2 as it resembles with its rear image at TENAA. The phone is equipped with a rectangle-shaped camera module and it has a side-facing fingerprint scanner.

The Realme Q2 series will be the first phone from the brand to come preinstalled with Realme UI 2.0. The new skin will be overlaid on Android 10 OS. Its known through its TENAA listing that it has a front-facing camera of 16-megapixel, 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple rear shooters, up to 8 GB of RAM, and up to 256 GB of internal storage.

Chinese smartphone maker realme was tipped to launch realme Q2 series on October 13 for two times in the past few days. Unsurprisingly, it happens to be true as the brand has now officially confirmed it to be the official launch date for these two smartphones on Weibo.

Last year, realme launched realme Q as a rebranded realme 5 Pro for the Chinese market. For its successors – realme Q2 (RMX2117) and realme Q2 Pro (RMX2173), the brand seems to have tweaked the global versions of realme 7 and realme 7 Pro, as per leaks and certifications.

These two devices are expected to come with 5G chipsets instead of 4G silicons found in the realme 7 series. The standard realme Q2 is said to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 720 as per Geekbench, whereas the realme Q2 Pro is tipped to feature MediaTek Dimensity 800U.

Another difference between these China-only devices and their international siblings is that only the costlier Q2 Pro will sport a quad-camera setup with a downgraded 48MP primary sensor paired with an 8MP ultra-wide unit, a 2MP macro snapper, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the other hand, the regular Q2 will come with a 48MP (wide) + 8MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (depth) triple camera setup. However, both of them will have the same 16MP selfie camera.

Apart from the above-mentioned dissimilarities, the realme Q2 series is expected to be similar to realme 7 series in all other factors, including 60Hz Super AMOLED display and 65W fast charging for the realme Q2 Pro and 90Hz LCD panel and 30W fast charging on the standard realme Q2.

Last but not least, the realme Q2 Pro will be also available in a leather finish just like the recently launched realme 7 Pro Sun Kissed Leather Special Edition.

Realme is gearing up to launch a new smartphone series, dubbed as Realme Q2 series. While the launch date has not been confirmed by the company, reports indicate that it could go official on 13th October in China.

Now, Xu Qi, Realme’s Vice President and President of Global Marketing has shared some details about the upcoming device. He has confirmed that the Realme Q2 will come in a trendy design with a leather finish.

The photo of the phone’s back panel has also been shared by Xu Qi, which showcases the smartphone in a light grey colored leather finish. There’s also a fine print of “DARE TO LEAP”, the company’s tagline or motto as well as Realme branding.

As per the leaks, the Realme Q2 features a 6.5-inch Full HD+ LCD punch-hole display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it is powered by a 2.4GHz octa-core processor but the chipset name is not yet known. It could pack MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC with support for 5G connectivity.
