The company is known for introducing the masses to some of the high-end features with this product lineup. For instance, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-7-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Redmi Note 7 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> was the first budget smartphone to feature a 48MP camera. This handset along with Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Go have now reached their end of life.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-238728 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/redmi-note-7-pro-1024x579.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro" width="696" height="394" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/redmi-note-7-pro-1024x579.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/redmi-note-7-pro-300x170.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/redmi-note-7-pro-768x434.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/redmi-note-7-pro.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">According to </span><a href="https://xiaomiui.net/xiaomi-end-of-life-devices-23912/"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiaomiui</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, Xiaomi has ended software support for three of its popular phones from 2019. These handsets are Redmi Note 7 (aka </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-7s/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Redmi Note 7S</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">), Redmi Note 7 Pro, and Redmi Go. They are officially over 3 years old now.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-7/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Redmi Note 7</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> lineup was introduced with MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie. Throughout their lifetime, the phones have received two MIUI updates (MIUI 11 and MIUI 12) and a single Android update (Android 10). They currently run MIUI 12.5.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">On the other hand, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-go/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Redmi Go</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> debuted with MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition. Three years after its launch, the entry-level smartphone still runs on the same software. It only received security patches throughout its lifetime.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Having said that, though </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Xiaomi/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiaomi</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> did not provide Android 11 for the Redmi Note 7 series, users can experience not only Android 11 but also Android 12 via custom ROMs. The two phones are still popular in the third-party development community. The Redmi Go also has a number of custom ROMs based on Android 10 and Android 11.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Anyway, third-party software is not recommended for everyone. If you are one of those niche audiences, you should definitely try it to breathe a new life into your aging out of support handsets.</span></p>
