Samsung may have only just shown off its Galaxy XR headset, but the company clearly has more wearable experiments in the pipeline. Its long-rumored XR smart glasses — the ones known internally as “Haean” — have popped up again, and the newest leak gives us the clearest picture yet of what Samsung’s cooking.

The latest info comes from GalaxyClub, which spotted the model number SM-O200P tied to the glasses. That’s interesting because Samsung’s full-size XR headset starts with SM-I, which hints that the company sees these glasses as their own product line rather than a mini version of the headset.

A genuinely useful feature seems to be transition lenses that darken in sunlight and clear back up indoors. It sounds obvious, but it’s something most smart glasses still get wrong. If it works well, it could make wearing them outdoors more comfortable and a lot more appealing.

As for connectivity, Samsung seems to be keeping things simple: Wi-Fi and Bluetooth only, no mobile data. So the glasses will still lean on your phone for most heavy lifting. There’s also a tiny built-in camera. This leak doesn’t confirm the resolution, but an older report mentioned a 12MP Sony IMX681, mainly for things like hand-gesture tracking. It may not be suitable for photography, text recognition and translation, or vlogging.

Under the hood, the glasses are expected to run on Qualcomm’s AR1 chip, paired with an NXP chip for extra duties. The battery is reportedly just 155 mAh, which sounds tiny but lines up with the idea that these are meant to be super lightweight and worn for long stretches. After all, the brand already has a beefy XR headset for more complicated tasks.

Many people assumed Samsung would reveal the glasses alongside the Galaxy XR headset earlier this year, but that obviously didn’t happen. There’s still no clear timeline — early 2026 seems like a safe guess, but nothing’s guaranteed.

What’s clear, though, is Samsung is aiming for smart glasses that look and feel like something people would actually wear day to day. It’ll probably fill the gap the headset can’t: a lightweight, all-day wearable with just a touch of smart functionality.

Samsung has announced the Galaxy XR, the company’s first AI-native headset built on the new Android XR platform developed with Google and Qualcomm.

Galaxy XR is the first device to have Google’s Gemini AI built right into the system. It responds through voice, vision, and gestures, understanding what users see and hear to provide natural, real-time assistance. It can help with navigation in Google Maps 3D, suggest nearby places, or search for real-world objects using Circle to Search. The headset can also turn 2D photos and videos into 3D, bringing memories to life.

The AI runs at the system level, making interactions smoother and more intuitive. Instead of simply following commands, Galaxy XR behaves more like a personal assistant that understands context.

The headset runs on Android XR, a new platform that supports multiple XR devices, including future AI glasses. All existing Android apps work on Galaxy XR, so users can access familiar mobile experiences right away. Developers can also build new XR apps easily using OpenXR, WebXR, or Unity, thanks to the platform’s open and scalable design.

Hardware and Specs

Galaxy XR is powered by the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage. It features a 3,552 x 3,840 Micro-OLED display with 27 million pixels, 95% DCI-P3 color coverage, and refresh rates of 60Hz, 72Hz (default), and up to 90Hz. The field of view measures 109° horizontal and 100° vertical.

For visuals, it includes a 6.5MP (F2.0, 18mm) camera that supports 3D photo and video capture, along with two pass-through cameras, six tracking cameras, four eye-tracking cameras, five IMUs, a depth sensor, and a flicker sensor. It also supports iris recognition for unlocking and password entry.

Audio is handled by two two-way speakers (woofer and tweeter) and six microphones with beamforming. It supports popular audio formats like MP3, AAC, FLAC, and Dolby Atmos, and can play 8K video at 60fps with HDR10 and HLG support. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

The headset weighs 545g with the forehead cushion, while the separate battery pack weighs 302g. Battery life is rated for up to 2 hours of general use and 2.5 hours of video playback, and it can be used while charging.

Pricing & availability

Galaxy XR will be available starting October 21 in the U.S. and October 22 in Korea. It has a price tag of US$1,799, while the Galaxy XR Travel Case and Galaxy XR Controller are cost at US$249.99 each.

The post Galaxy XR: Samsung’s New AI-Integrated Headset Built with Google and Qualcomm appeared first on Gizmochina.

Samsung’s XR headset isn’t much of a secret anymore. The company briefly teased the project during its January Unpacked event, but now, official renders and new details have surfaced thanks to a report from AndroidHeadlines.

Internally known as Project Moohan, the device will reportedly launch as the Samsung Galaxy XR headset. From the looks of it, Samsung is taking clear design cues from Apple’s Vision Pro. The headset features two internal lenses, a wraparound “Light Shield” for a snug fit, and an external battery pack for power, much like the Vision Pro.

The front and back of the headset are dotted with cameras and sensors. Four sensors sit under the front glass for hand tracking, while two circular sensors near the nose cutout track the lower field of view. There’s a proximity sensor near the forehead to detect physical surroundings like walls, floors, and ceilings.

Inside, you get a pair of cameras near each lens for eye tracking. It reportedly uses infrared LEDs and AI to monitor eye movement and pupil position in real time.

Both displays are said to be 4K micro-LED panels with a density of 4,032 pixels per inch, totaling around 29 million pixels. Powering it all is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip which has been jointly optimized by Samsung, Qualcomm, and Google for mixed reality performance.

Samsung has also built in multiple microphones that can isolate your voice from background noise and enhance others’ voices for clearer conversations. The head strap houses speakers on both sides, while the right side also includes a touchpad for navigation. A long tap on it re-centers content, and a double tap switches between VR and passthrough modes.

On top, there are two physical buttons: a “Top” button on the right that launches the main UI, and a volume rocker on the left. Air vents are located along the bottom for cooling.

Speaking of UI, the app icons are familiar to anyone who’s used a Galaxy phone, and there’s full support for the Google Play Store. Samsung will also offer controllers support in the Galaxy XR for control in 3D environment. The controllers have 6 DoF, analog stick and haptic feedback.

Finally, the headset is reportedly rated to deliver up to 2.5 hours of video playback and 2 hours of general use.
