<p>According to a <a href="https://www.digitimes.com/news/a20210222PD211.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>DigiTimes</em> </a>report, the export fell by just 0.4 percent in 2020, reaching 51.18 billion US Dollars in 2020. Notably, the proportion of smartphones and the related components&#8217; proportion within the nation&#8217;s total exports also declined last year, down to 18 percent in 2020 from 30 percent just a year prior. For those unaware, Vietnam is also a notable export hub, with its shipments reaching over 50 countries last year.</p>
<p>Furthermore, China is its largest outlet, which takes in nearly 25 percent of its total export shipments. This is followed by the EU with a 19 percent share, which is trailed by other regions like the US, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Samsung Electronics</a> also accounted for nearly 100 percent of Vietnam&#8217;s entire smartphone shipments and exports. The South Korean tech giant has <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/03/09/samsung-shifts-its-production-from-korea-to-vietnam-amid-coronavirus-outbreak/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">invested heavily in the region and also runs two industrial complexes in the nation at the moment</a>.</p>

<p>With its investment reaching 17 billion US Dollars, the company also employees over 110,000 people and has even plans to invest an additional 220 million US Dollars to build a dedicated research and development center in the region, which is expected to be finished in 2022. This new research and development center will house over 2,200 to 2,300 employees and will focus on developing AI, IoT, and 5G solutions for the company.</p>

It was launched earlier this year and now, the company has announced a new Galaxy Z Fold 2 Limited Edition Collection is arriving for its customers in Vietnam.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class=" wp-image-362896 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Screenshot-208.png?x44794" alt="Samsung" width="505" height="712" /></p>
<p>According to a SamMobile report, the new Limited Edition Collection for Spring 2021 will not be sold along with the vase Galaxy Z Fold 2 variant. Apparently, the South Korean tech giant was taken by surprise by the foldable smartphone&#8217;s success in the region. So, Samsung decided to not just replenish the stocks, but also make the fresh batch a bit special as well. The official name of the device is the <span class="post-body">Galaxy Z Fold 2 Limited Edition Collection – Spring 2021, which essentially is the same as the regular version but its retail box arrives with a handful of goodies and incentives.</span></p>

In a private meeting in Seoul, the Prime Minister of Vietnam asked the Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics to consider building a chip manufacturing facility in the country.</p>
<p>The South Korean tech giant has already set up numerous plants and assembly lines for its mobile phones and IoT devices in the country. Additionally, the offer from the political leader is reported to carry certain benefits and incentives for the company. Samsung will also further benefit from lower labor costs in the Southeast Asian country and its economic growth prospects. Unfortunately, the exact details regarding the incentives being provided are still unknown but the deal may be a winning strategy for both sides.</p>
<figure id="attachment_292975" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-292975" style="width: 1280px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-292975 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/20191201000131_0.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1280" height="1558" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/20191201000131_0.jpg 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/20191201000131_0-246x300.jpg 246w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/20191201000131_0-768x935.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/20191201000131_0-841x1024.jpg 841w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/20191201000131_0-696x847.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/20191201000131_0-1068x1300.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/20191201000131_0-345x420.jpg 345w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-292975" class="wp-caption-text">Korean Herald: Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong (left) and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc (right)</figcaption></figure>
<p>However, news of the deal actually going through for a new plant is still uncertain due to the basic requirements of the semiconductor business, according to sources and economic experts. Instead, Samsung has promised to hire 3000 Vietnamese engineers for its Samsung Research and Development center which is currently under construction in Hanoi.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/12/03/samsung-leads-in-global-tv-sales-while-xiaomi-holds-5th-spot-as-sales-decline/">Samsung leads in global TV sales while Xiaomi holds 5th spot as sales decline</a></strong></h6>
<p>Before setting up a plant, chipmakers require local talent (engineers), clients to work with, and also need to be closer to their target markets. Currently, Samsung has chip plants in Xian, China, and Austin, Texas. Austin, in the US, is home to top-level engineering students while the country is the biggest market for Samsung. Similarly, the reason Samsung still operates in China is not for low labor costs but due to market significance and huge potential for growth.</p>
<figure id="attachment_288862" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-288862" style="width: 874px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-288862 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Samsung-Exynos-980-5G-chipset.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Exynos 980 5G chipset" width="874" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Samsung-Exynos-980-5G-chipset.jpg 874w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Samsung-Exynos-980-5G-chipset-300x172.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Samsung-Exynos-980-5G-chipset-768x439.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Samsung-Exynos-980-5G-chipset-696x398.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Samsung-Exynos-980-5G-chipset-734x420.jpg 734w" sizes="(max-width: 874px) 100vw, 874px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-288862" class="wp-caption-text">Samsung Exynos 980 5G chipset</figcaption></figure>
<p>Thus, it is unlikely that Samsung takes the Vietnamese Prime Minister&#8217;s offer for a new chipmaking plant. The company already has set up advanced smartphones and IT manufacturing facilities (with over 58 percent of Samsung smartphones being sold globally are made in Vietnam). Hence, it might not need another chip plant in a country that is less crucial than either China or the US.</p>

Both color variants are only available in Switzerland and Hong Kong respectively. However, those are not the only two color variants that have just been announced. There is a third, with a stunning gradient finish but it is a limited edition variant &#8211; to be precise, the <strong>Galaxy S10+ Park Hang Seo Limited Edition</strong>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-257997" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Galaxy-S10-Park-Hang-Seo-Limited-Edition.jpg?x44794" alt="Galaxy S10+ Park Hang Seo Limited Edition" width="1024" height="683" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Galaxy-S10-Park-Hang-Seo-Limited-Edition.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Galaxy-S10-Park-Hang-Seo-Limited-Edition-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Galaxy-S10-Park-Hang-Seo-Limited-Edition-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Galaxy-S10-Park-Hang-Seo-Limited-Edition-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Galaxy-S10-Park-Hang-Seo-Limited-Edition-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>For those who don&#8217;t know, Park Hang Seo is a former South Korean footballer that is now the head coach of the Vietnam national football team. This limited edition Galaxy S10+ was released to honor him and will be exclusive to Vietnam.</p>
<p>The phone not only has a different finish from the other variants, but it also comes in a special box along with additional accessories.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><div class="su-note" style="border-color:#e5e5e5;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><div class="su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim" style="background-color:#ffffff;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"></span><b>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/06/07/huawei-no-longer-allowed-to-pre-instal-facebook-apps-on-its-phones/">Huawei no longer allowed to pre-install Facebook apps on its phones</a></b><span style="font-weight: 400;"></div></div></span></p>
<p>Seeing the red box, one might presume the phone inside has the same color but it doesn&#8217;t. The color is actually called Prism Silver and is similar to that of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/31/honor-10-gt-gets-new-lily-of-the-valley-color-variant/">Honor 10 GT Lily White Edition</a> but with a wider spectrum of colors, for lack of a better way to describe it. It sure will turn heads as it switches from purple to green to orange to pink.  This limited edition has 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and dual SIM support.</p>
<p>Included in the box is a customized hard case in red. It is a sturdy case but the font and color used to write the veteran footballer&#8217;s name look off. The case has a few tricks of its own. Slap it on and you are prompted to download AR stickers designed to show your support for the Vietnamese team and a custom theme for the phone. There is also a prompt to get news related to the sports team and the coach.</p>
[envira-gallery id=&#8221;257998&#8243;]
