The upcoming PlayStation VR2 headset has been illuminated by some of its features released by Sony. The VR2 headset will provide virtual reality interaction for the PlayStation gaming console. While the VR2 headset is focused on virtual reality gaming content, it can also be used for non-VR gaming, says Sony. The device will come with a See-Through View to allow users to view their surroundings when needed. This will be accomplished by either pressing a button on the headset or using a card in the Control Center. The See-Through View does not require the user to take off his headset, hence gaming is not disrupted.

The VR2 headset does not have a recording option and the see-through view will help the player orient himself to the surroundings. The see-through view will also be used to set up the gaming area by mapping the room and creating a border using the controller. A warning notification is given whenever the player gets close to the preset border during gaming. You can livestream your play using a PS5 HD Camera and a screen.

The PlayStation VR2 headset will operate in VR Mode, delivering VR content at 4,000 x 2,040 pixels (that is, 2,000 x 2,040 pixels per eye). The video format will be HDR with 90Hz or 120Hz refresh rates.

As for non-VR content, it will be rendered on a large virtual screen projected at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution. The refresh rates for non-VR content rendering will vary from 24Hz to 120Hz. There is no official or rumored release date yet for the VR2 headset. Sony says it will provide more information soon on the product.

Japanese tech powerhouse Sony has unveiled its latest iteration of the PlayStation virtual reality headset called the PlayStation VR2 headset. The new device comes slimmer and more ergonomically engaging than its predecessor. The Sony PlayStation VR2 headset draws inspiration from the design of the PS5 ecosystem both in the way it looks and feels. Also unveiled is the VR2 Sense controller.

The PlayStation VR2 headset is a bit lighter than its predecessor and also comes with some additional features. A built-in motor for headset feedback and a lens adjustment dial are some of the other features that are birthed on the device. A single cord setup will allow users of the VR2 headset to quickly set up the device. The panel display is an OLED with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and the VR2 provides a field of view that is approximately 110 degrees. There is a collection of several sensors for enhanced user experience including a gyroscope, motion sensors, and an IR proximity sensor.

The Sony PlayStation VR2 headset has 4 cameras in addition to an IR camera for eye tracking. The VR2 can be connected to the PS5 via its USB-C cable. The VR2 Sense controllers can be connected via Bluetooth 5.1 to the PS5 console and come with the needed complement of buttons for gaming. These are in addition to motion and capacitive sensors and trigger effect feedback. The VR2 Sense controller has a built-in Lithium-ion rechargeable battery that can be charged through its USB-C port.

There are few details as per when fans will get the two products but we expect that to happen soon. We are expecting the pricing and global availability details for the products as well.
