Suunto Vertical 2 Launches with AMOLED Display, 65-Hour GPS, and Built-In Flashlight

Suunto has introduced the Vertical 2, the latest model in its adventure watch lineup. It is built for extreme expeditions and daily outdoor use.

The new watch features a redesigned optical heart rate sensor for more accurate wrist-based tracking, a larger and brighter 1.5-inch AMOLED display with 466×466 resolution, and a faster processor for smoother operation. It also includes a built-in LED flashlight with adjustable brightness, a red-light mode for night vision, and SOS and alert functions for added safety.

The Vertical 2 keeps the strengths of the original series, including long battery life and reliable navigation. It offers up to 65 hours of GPS tracking in dual-band mode and up to 20 days of smartwatch use. Free detailed offline maps are available directly on the watch and in the Suunto app, showing contour lines, paths, and terrain features. The new Climb Guidance feature gives real-time elevation profiles, gradient data, and notifications for climbs and descents. Quick Start Navigation allows users to change routes on the go without stopping activity tracking.

The watch is built for durability and comes in stainless steel and titanium variants. Three side buttons make it easy to use in any weather, even with gloves on. It supports 115 sport modes, training analytics, weather alerts, altitude data, and sunrise and sunset times. Health tracking and seamless integration with the Suunto app and over 300 partner services extend its use beyond sports.

Suunto Race 2 and Wing 2 Launched: Advanced Running Watch and Bone Conduction Headphones

Suunto has announced two new products for runners and active users: the Suunto Race 2 trail running watch and the Wing 2 bone conduction headphones. Both are upgrades to their earlier versions, focusing on performance, comfort, and safety while offering better tools for training and daily use.

Suunto Race 2: Trail Running Watch

The Race 2 is Suunto’s most advanced running watch to date. It features a 1.5-inch LTPO display with 466 × 466 resolution, 2,000 nits peak brightness, and Always-On Display support. The LTPO technology allows the refresh rate to drop to 1 Hz to save power, while thinner bezels improve visibility.

The watch is designed for endurance with a battery that offers up to 55 hours of GPS tracking with dual-band GNSS, 16 days with continuous heart rate monitoring, or 22 days with heart rate monitoring off. It weighs 57g without the strap and 75g with it, making it 6 percent thinner and lighter than the earlier model. Built with a wear-resistant bezel, sapphire crystal glass, and stainless steel or titanium options, it is made to handle tough conditions. Color options include All Black, Feather Gray, Coral Orange, and Wave Blue in stainless steel, while titanium models come in Titanium Black and Titanium Trail.

It comes with more than 115 sports modes, including running, cycling, swimming, winter sports, and team sports. Users can also create custom modes with their preferred metrics. Offline maps can be downloaded for full navigation without a phone, along with climb guidance that provides real-time elevation data and pacing support on uphill and downhill runs. Training Zone features include Training Stress Score, Recovery Score, sleep and HRV tracking, and long-term fitness monitoring through Cumulative Training Load, VO₂ Max, and lactate threshold. The updated optical sensor delivers more accurate heart rate data, with continuous tracking and high heart rate alerts. The watch supports more than 300 third-party apps like Strava, Adidas Running, MapMyRun, and Runkeeper.

Suunto Wing 2: Bone Conduction Headphones

The Wing 2 headphones are built for runners and outdoor athletes who want to stay aware of their surroundings while listening to music. They deliver deeper bass and clearer sound with reduced leakage using improved metal components and optimized EQ. They feature dual microphones, AI call noise cancellation, and a wind filter that works at speeds up to 30 km/h.

Battery life is rated at 12 hours per charge and 36 hours with the included power bank. Fast charging provides 1.5 hours of playback in 5 minutes or 3 hours in 10 minutes. Connectivity is handled by Bluetooth 5.3. The headphones have an open-ear design with a slimmer and lighter shell for a better fit and stability. They are available in All Black and Coral Orange.

The Wing 2 also includes LED safety lights with Turn and Brake Mode and Cadence Sync Mode for night visibility. Built-in motion sensors track neck mobility and posture, giving reminders when strain is detected. Motion-based controls allow users to change tracks, adjust volume, or answer calls without touching the headphones. Real-time voice feedback keeps runners updated during training.

Pricing and Availability

The Suunto Race 2 will be available from August 27, 2025, at €499 / $499 for the stainless steel edition and €599 / $599 for the titanium edition. The Wing 2 will be available from September 2025 at €179 / $179.

Suunto 9 Peak Pro with built-in GPS, dedicated diving mode launched

The Finnish smartwatch manufacturer Suunto has announced a new smartwatch in the market called the Suunto 9 Peak Pro. The smartwatch comes with a 43 mm case that is also 10.8 mm thick and weighs 64 g.

The wearable comes with a 1.2-inch sapphire crystal display with 240 x 240-pixel resolution. The outer casing of the watch is made up of Titanium Grade 5. According to the company, the Suunto 9 Peak Pro houses a “more powerful chipset architecture that boosts the performance to a new level while having the best in class battery life compared to similar-sized products on the market”.

With three battery modes—Performance, Endurance, and Tour—the Suunto 9 Peak Pro offers the longest battery life of any Suunto watch to date. The battery lasts for 21 days when used regularly, 40 hours in performance mode, 70 hours in endurance mode, and 300 hours in tour mode before needing to be recharged. It also features a pretty fast charging speed, as the watch can be filled up to 100% in an hour or up to 10 hours of training time in just 10 minutes.

The watch is mainly made for outdoor activities and so it packs support for Beidou, Galileo, Glonass, and GPS satellite systems and can connect to 32 satellites simultaneously for precise location accuracy. The watch is also waterproof up to 100 meters, meaning you can easily dive in deep waters with the wearable on your wrist.

Suunto ships the smartwatch with its latest revised UI on board that brings 97 sports modes to choose from. There is also a dedicated snorkeling mode for diving. Health features include blood oxygen monitoring, heart rate monitoring, 24/7 activity tracking, Sleep tracking, and stress and recovery status.

Suunto offers the 9 Peak Pro in six variants at launch, starting at €499 ($549 in the US) with a stainless steel bezel. Alternatively, the Suunto 9 Peak Pro with a titanium bezel costs €629 in Europe and $699 in the US. Suunto’s website has more information on all variants.

Suunto 5 Peak GPS smartwatch with 3D and heat maps launched

The Finnish smartwatch manufacturer Suunto has announced a new version of the Suunto 5, the Suunto 5 Peak. However, the new smartwatch looks and feels a lot different from its predecessor as it is both thinner and weighs less.

According to the company, the Suunto 5 Peak is their lightest ever GPS sports watch, weighing only 39 grams. To achieve this 41% reduction in weight, the company has switched to a plastic body cover rather than the mineral glass offered in the Suunto 5. The watch is also quite slim with 12.9 mm thickness.

The Suunto 5 Peak has a 1.1-inch display that offers 218 x 218-pixel resolution. The Suunto 5 Peak also offers the company’s popular 3D and heat maps which could help users find safer routes for planning an adventure or when in a pinch.

Suunto has also pre-installed more than 80 sports modes in the Peak and can track your steps, resting and active heart rate, caloric burn, recovery, sleep quality, and duration.

The battery life offered on the Suunto 5 Peak varies in different modes. The device can last up to 10 days on a single charge in Time mode. The smartwatch offers three options in sports mode, namely Performance, Endurance, and Tour. Performance mode offers 20 hours of continuous usage, Endurance mode gives you 40 hours of use time, and Tour mode allows for 100 hours of continuous GPS usage.

The device also allows users to control the music on their smartphones and check notifications. However, Suunto continues to restrict some smartphone features to Android, such as sending predefined replies to incoming messages from the smartwatch.

You can choose from six different strap colors, including a speckled option that’s made out of recycled strap scraps. The Suunto Peak 5 is available for pre-order in the US and Canada for $329 and will officially go on sale starting February 1. The smartwatch will be made available globally in Spring 2022.
