The Swiss smartwatch maker Garmin has just launched a new smartwatch with a focus on divers. The smartwatch is called the Germain Decent G1 and comes with a lot of interesting as well as some essential features for the benefit of marine divers.

The Germain Decent G1 comes in two variants: a solar-powered model and a non-solar. The smartwatch offers a variety of diving modes including Gauge, Gas dives (single and multiple), Closed-circuit rebreather, Apnea, and Apnea hunt. Apnea Hunt mode allows you to free dive with apnea-specific dive data at a higher screen refresh rate. It also disables start and stop tones as to not scare the fish away while free diving for spearfishing.

To aid you alongside any of these modes the Descent G1 can show temperature, depth, dive time, time to surface (TTS) and no-decompression limit (NDL) alerts. It can also track the gas mix, decompression, ascent, and descent rates, as well as safety stop information. The device also brings along a GPS.

The watch has a 10 ATM rating, meaning users can take it up to 100 meters deep. The Garmin Descent G1 series features a 0.9-inch x 0.9-inch display, with a sapphire crystal screen. The display features a monochrome panel that is easily visible in the sun and also offers a transflective memory-in-pixel (MIP) panel. Other than diving, the smartwatch can also track different sports activities such as swimming, hiking, running, cycling, golf, yoga, surfing, and more. The watch can also monitor your sleep activity and give you a sleep score.

The Garmin Descent G1 offers the usual smartwatch features like alerts for app notifications, calls, texts, calendar reminders, and more and is compatible with both Android and iOS smartphones. The device offers up to 25 hours of battery life on a single charge while on dive mode and up to 7 days in smartwatch mode. The solar-powered model can last up to 4 months in smartwatch mode without needing to charge again.

As for pricing, the non-solar powered model comes with a price tag of $549.99, and the solar-powered Garmin Descent G1 is priced at $649.99.
