Garmin seems to be blazing the trail with its latest multisport smartwatch model, the Garmin Instinct 2 Solar smartwatch, which the company claims, is capable of working extensively without conventional recharging. The company says that the solar versions of the Instinct 2 offer unlimited battery life due to improvements made on the solar technology supporting the models.

The Garmin Instinct 2 is built for rugged individualists and the additional unlimited battery feature in the solar versions of the model will offer greater depth and functionality of the smartwatch. Garmin is known to have put in extensive research efforts and resources in solar charging for its smartwatch, and the efforts have seemingly paid off nicely. Solar charging was debuted with the Garmin Fenix 6 series, and it has gradually been extended to other Garmin smartwatches with impressive results. The latest iteration of the solar charging feature for the Instinct 2 smartwatch marks a milestone with unlimited battery life functionality.

The Garmin Instinct 2 is a mid-range lineup and the unlimited battery claim may not be ascertained easily. It is a bold claim by the company and there could be several conditions that could warrant such functionality and its sustainability remains uncharted territory. The unlimited battery feature is only feasible on the 45mm model when it’s in smartwatch mode. This means that the unlimited battery feature will support only monitoring and notifications but it cannot operate in tracking activities.
