Vivo has officially launched its latest budget smartphone in the Indian market. The Vivo Y31 just debuted with high end water and dust resistance, a massive battery pack, and much more for an affordable price tag. So here’s everything you need to know.

New Vivo Y31 in India Packs a 6500mAh Battery & Flagship-Level IP Rating

The Chinese tech giant’s new Vivo Y31 is a 5G smartphone thanks to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC. This chip is paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. On the front, you get a tall 6.68-inch LCD panel with an HD+ resolution and an 8MP selfie shooter. Meanwhile, the rear packs a 50MP AI dual camera setup. A massive 6,500mAh battery pack powers this device, which supports 44W wired fast charging.

One of the most notable features includes the IP68 and IP69 rating, which makes the Vivo Y31 dust and water resistant. This model weighs around 209 grams and measures 8.39mm in terms of thickness. You also get Bluetooth 4.2, dual band WiFi, and a USB Type-C 2.0 port. Despite being a cheap model, you still get AI powered features like AI Erase and Circle to Search.

Vivo just announced the Y31 in two color options, namely Diamond Green and Rose Red. It also arrives in two storage configurations, namely 4GB + 128GB and 6GB + 128GB. The Vivo Y31 has a retail price tag of Rs 19,999 for the 4GB model, while the 6GB variant costs Rs 21,499. But as of right now, the budget phone is listed for a price tag of Rs 14,999 and Rs 16,999, respectively. It is worth noting that there is also a Rs 500 discount for students along with no cost EMI options, and up to Rs 1,000 instant bank discount.

Vivo has discreetly launched the Vivo Y31 smartphone in India. The phone sports a waterdrop notch display, a massive battery with fast charging support, and a 48-megapixel triple camera system. After the Vivo Y20A, Vivo Y51A, Vivo Y12s, and Vivo Y20G, the Y31 is the first Y-series to launch in the country.

Vivo Y31 specifications and features

The Vivo Y31 mid-range phone has a 6.58-inch IPS LCD Halo FullView screen that produces a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2408 pixels and a 20.7:9 aspect ratio. The display notch houses an 8-megapixel selfie camera with Super Night Selfie support. The rectangle-shaped camera housing placed on the rear shell of the phone has a 48-megapixel main lens, and a pair of 2-megapixel sensors for macro shots and depth effects. The rear cameras support Super Night mode and EIS video stabilization.

The Snapdragon 662 chipset fuels the handset with 6 GB of RAM. The phone ships with a big internal storage of 128 GB. The device boots to FunTouch OS 11 based Android 11 OS.

HDFC Bank credit and debit users can avail up to Rs 1,000 cashback on the purchase of Vivo Y31. ICICI Bank, Bajaj FinServ, IDFC First Bank, HDB Financial Services, Home Credit, and TVS Credit are offering zero down payment schemes for Y31 buyers.

The back panel of the phone has a triple camera system that is led by a 48-megapixel main shooter. It is unclear which processor is present under the hood of the device. It will offer users 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

Although vivo is gearing up to launch the vivo X60 series of flagship smartphones in China on December 29, the company may also unveil a budget smartphone called vivo Y31 in other markets ahead of it. This device was recently spotted on multiple certification bureaus and has been now listed on Google Play Console revealing its key specs and front design.

The upcoming vivo Y31 will be yet another budget smartphone with model number V2036. According to the Google Play Console listing, it will run Android 11 out of the box. Thus, the latest Android version could be a key differentiator for this phone as most of the handsets in the segment still run Android 10.

However, its specifications aren’t out of the world as it will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 662, which has now become common. The newly launched Redmi 9 Power also features the same chip.

Further, the phone will come equipped with 4GB RAM and sport an FHD+ (1080 x 2408 pixels) display with a dew-drop notch at the top. But the type of the panel is a mystery as of now.

Nothing else is known about the vivo Y31 apart from the above-mentioned specs. That said, since it has been certified by India’s BIS, Thailand’s NBTC, Singapore’s IMDA, and Russia’s EEC. we can expect this handset to launch at least in these markets.
