Since MediaTek MT6589 chipset has been made, there is a lot of manufacturers are lining up to dedicate to using Mediatek quad-core processor. This effort is doing for minimize the cost of production.

The TCL P600 and Y900 smartphone is the one of the first devices powered by MediaTek MT6589 chipset. Both smartphones were revealed two weeks before officially marketed in China.

Related to this, there is news that says that now both Sony and Motorola are testing the existence of MediaTek MT6589. Perhaps there will be more quad-core devices with a more affordable price in the market soon. And for lower production costs is the reason that makes LG reportedly also expressed interest in the same way as Sony and Motorola.

Lenovo, TCL, Huawei, Gionee, ZTE, Coolpad and Vivo are a few manufacturers that has intrigued and even have dedicated to using MediaTek MT6589 processor to the newest mobile devices recently. Interest in most of the manufacturers in China lately because MediaTek MT6589 is capable of reducing the production budget is much lower than usual.

MediaTek MT6589 architecture is based on the Cortex-A7, the resulting frequency between 1GHz to 1.2GHz, support for LDDR2 RAM, 720p screen resolution, support for WCDMA and TD-SCDMA netwotk, capable of processing 13-megapixel camera and 1080p Full HD video playback. MediaTek MT6589 is now integrated with PowerVR SGX544 GPU.
