Samsung is now becoming the first Android smartphone manufacturer in the world through their Galaxy lineup smartphone. Just how badly does Samsung want to split from Android?. Samsung’s Chief Secretary Wonsuk Lee said at an HTML5 conference that the company is working on fostering a relationship between its Tizen OS and Firefox OS.

According to rumors recently, Samsung want to split from Android and focus on Tizen OS smartphone as the main product. It’s possible for Samsung to working on their own operating system, Tizen OS.

Lee said that because Tizen OS and Firefox are both based on HTML5, applications written in any of the platforms will be able to work on other platforms. Tizen device itself will be released in the first half of next year.

Last week a report emerged from South Korea, which reveal that the local operators are already testing a prototype of Tizen smartphone  provided by Samsung. Last October while compatriot competitor Samsung, LG has released Firefox mobile phone called LG Fireweb.

Speculation has Samsung eventually competing against iOS and Android with a Tizen-FirefoxOS combination, but something like that is a long way in the future.
