Sony began rolling out the Android Oreo update to the Xperia XZ Premium yesterday. Other manufacturers like HTC, Huawei, and OnePlus are also expected to update eligible phones before the end of the year. Samsung on the other hand has said that the update won’t arrive till next year.
The info was revealed by Samsung Turkey. The source says that development is already underway but will not be ready till early 2018.
The first set of devices expected to get the update include the Galaxy S8, S8+, and Note8. Other devices are the S7, S7 Edge, S7 Active, Galaxy A7/A5/A3 2017, Galaxy J7/J5 2017, Galaxy Note FE, Galaxy C9/C7 Pro, J7 Prime (On Nxt) and Tab S3.
These year’s flagships will get the beta update before the end of the year before the stable update next year. The update schedule will also vary with respect to countries and carriers.
The update will bring new features such as picture-in-picture mode, new emoji, notification badge, auto-fill, and night mode etc.
