When Huawei released the Enjoy 7S earlier this week, it also announced the Huawei 7 power bank too. Today, its sub-brand Honor unveiled the Honor 9 Lite/Youth Edition and alongside it, the Honor AM51 bluetooth speaker.

Honor AM51 Speaker Red

The Honor AM51 Speaker has a lot going for it. From its donut-like shape like the UE Roll or Google Home Mini to its cool colors and affordable price, it sure ticks all the boxes. Let’s not also forget its IP5X rating which means its safe for poolside parties or your solo shower performances.

The Honor AM51 has a TPU shell for the lower half and a fabric-like mesh covering at the top. It also has a shoelace-like strap for carrying or for hanging. The buttons are on the lower half and are raised so you should be able to find them even in the dark. There is also a microphone which means you can use it to make and receive calls.

The speaker comes with a 700mAh battery that lasts up to 8.5hrs on a single charge. Charging is via a micro USB port covered by a flap. The speaker connects via Bluetooth 4.1, has a 10m range and a power rating of 3.5W. It weighs ~190g and measures 100 x 100 x 42mm.

The Honor AM51 Speaker comes in blue, gray, and red. It will sell for ¥199 (~$30) when it goes on sale on January 8, 2018 on Vmall.com.

Who else thought of pairing this with the Google Home Mini in matching colors? I’m sure I am not the only one.
