Apple and Samsung are reportedly struggling to launch smartphones with under-display fingerprint. However, China’s Vivo has already the world’s first in-screen fingerprint scanner phone – the Vivo X20 Plus UD in collaboration with Synaptics. A leaked photo of a mysterious Vivo phone that has appeared on Weibo suggests that it will be offering a very high screen-to-body ratio along with in-display fingerprint scanner.

Vivo Mysterious Phone with Very High Screen to Body Ratio

There is no information available on the specifications and the name of the mysterious Vivo phone that has appeared in the leaked photo. Expect for a slightly thick bottom bezel, the remaining bezels of the phone appears quite thin. This indicates that the handset will be delivering a screen-to-body ratio of more than 95 percent. The exact of the screen is not known, but it is likely to offer 18:9 aspect ratio as the screen has an elongated appeal. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer is likely to embed the fingerprint scanner under the display of the phone.

Since the top bezel is very thin, it does not seem to feature selfie camera, earpiece or any other sensor. The Mi MIX 2 smartphone has the selfie camera located on the bottom bezel. However, the selfie camera does not appear to be present on the bottom of the mysterious Vivo. The absence of the frontal snapper makes us doubt on authenticity of the photo.

Selfie camera has become an integral feature of today’s smartphones. Hence, it does not seem that Vivo will be axing the feature on the mysterious phone. It may feature only a single rear camera that may double as a frontal shooter. The Honor 7i smartphone that was released in August 2015 did not feature a front-facing camera. Instead the flip-up functionality of the rear camera allowed its users to use it as a selfie camera.

The recently spotted Doogee Mix 3 also lacks a selfie camera. However, its rear camera can be lifted up to function as a selfie camera.

With Chinese smartphone manufacturers trying to find ways to launch phones with slimmer bezels, it seems possible that Vivo may launch a smartphone with new flip-up technology camera.
