Huawei had held a launch event in the previous month to globally announce the P20 series that include P20, P20 Pro and P20 Lite smartphones. Today, the Chinese manufacturer had held an unveil event in New Delhi to announce the arrival of Huawei P20 Pro and P20 Lite smartphones in India. For reasons best known to the company, the Huawei P20 smartphone was not announced at the launch event.

Huawei P20 Pro and P20 Lite Specifications and Features

The Huawei P20 Pro has a 6.1-inch Full View OLED display that supports Full HD+ resolution. The iPhone X-like notched display offers 19:9 aspect ratio. The natural tone display is comfortable for viewing in all lighting conditions. The handset features an IP67 certified water-resistant and dustproof body.

The Kirin 970 that includes a neural processing unit (NPU) for exclusively handling AI computations powers the P20 Pro. The SoC is supported by 6 GB of RAM and it has a native storage of 128 GB. There is no microSD card slot on the phone.

It is loaded with the latest EMUI 8.1 skin flavored Android 8.1 Oreo. The phone can be connected to an external display by using an USB-C to HDMI cable to take advantage of the desktop experience through the Huawei PC Mode. The 4,000mAh battery can be charged to 58 percent by charging it only for 30 minutes using the SuperCharge fast charging technology by Huawei.

The USP of the Huawei P20 Pro is that it features triple camera setup that includes 40-megapixel RGB sensor, 20-megapixel monochrome sensor and 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The Leica engineered triple cameras offer 5x loseless hybrid zoom and 10x digital zoom. Other camera features include 4D Predictive Focus for motion detection and instantly focusing on the subject, scene detection, 960fps slow-motion video shooting and 6-axis stabilization. For snapping selfies, it has a 24.8-megapixel front-facing camera that has been optimized to capture best selfie shots in dim light conditions. It can be also used for facial recognition. The button present below the display of the P20 Pro is embedded with a fingerprint scanner.

The Huawei P20 Lite is a less powerful phone is it has powered by Kirin 659 chipset that is designed for power mid-range smartphones. It features a 5.84-inch Full View IPS LCD screen that is equipped with a notch like the P20 Pro. It also delivers an aspect ratio of 19:9. The SoC is couple with 4 GB of RAM. It has a native storage of 64 GB and it carries support for microSD card. The P20 Lite is loaded with EMUI 8.1 skinned Android 8.1 Oreo OS.

The f/2.2 aperture 24-megapixel selfie camera of the P20 Lite can not only shoot impressive shots in dim light, but also it is equipped with features like AR-based stickers and facial recognition. Its dual camera setup includes an f/2.2 aperture 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megpaixel secondary sensor. It receives power from 3,000mAh battery.

Huawei P20 Pro and P20 Lite Pricing and Availability

The Huawei P20 Pro premium flagship that comes in colors like Graphite Black and Midnight Blue will be available in India for Rs. 64,999 (~$979) starting from May 3. From the same date, the P20 Lite that carries a pricing of Rs. 19,999 (~$301) will be available for purchase in colors like Midnight Black and Klein Blue. These phones can be exclusively bought through Amazon India.
