Snapchat has announced a newer version of its Spectacles. The sunglasses with the built-in camera now has a ton of cool new features which should come in handy for your summer holidays.

The biggest upgrade added to the Spectacles V2 is waterproofing. This makes sense since quite a number of folks will be spending their summer days at the beach or at pools.

Design wise, the glasses are smaller now and should be more comfortable to wear for long periods and easier to carry. It also has lighter lenses and options for those with prescriptions.

Snapchat has also added the ability to take still photos. An update will bring the feature to the first-gen Spectacles. The camera can now record in HD too in 10, 20, or 30-second clips.

Snapchat has also added a second microphone for improved audio and has increased the speed of file transfer from the glasses to your device. It is said to be about 3 to 4 times faster now.

Snapchat has removed the yellow ring on the first-gen model but a white ring of light comes up when you start recording. The Spectacles V2 comes in new colors too – Onyx Black, Ruby Red, and Sapphire Blue. The battery life has not been changed and the case offers four extra charges.
