Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 recently got a 100 yuan price cut for the 3GB + 32GB variant in China. Right now, the high-end 6GB + 64GB version has also gotten a 300 yuan ($47) price cut which brings its price down to 1,399 yuan (~$218) from 1,699 yuan (~$263). This latest price slash is exclusively on Jingdong (JD.com) and is part of its 6/18 shopping festival to mark the date of its founding. 
The current 1,399 yuan price tag for the Redmi Note 5 6GB + 64GB variant is an interesting offer considering that it places the variant at the same price the 4GB + 64GB variant sells on other e-commerce retail platforms, including Mi Home. The price cut may likely be time limited since the 6/18 shopping festival peaks on June 18. After that, the price will revert back to 1,699 yuan.
Asa reminder, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is a 5.99-inch FHD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) display packing mid-range smartphone with an affordable pricing. The phone comes with a layer of 2.5D curved glass to provide some bit of protection and aesthetics. It equally has a soft LED flash along with the 13MP selfie camera that carries support for AI portrait mode.
At the rear, the Redmi Note 5 features an aluminium unibody with an AI-driven dual rear camera arranged vertically at the top left edge. The LED flash is located in between both rear shooters. The Redmi Note 5’s AI Dual Camera comprises a 12MP primary sensor along with a 5MP secondary depth of field sensor. It is equipped with features like dual autofocus, EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization), HDR, Burst Mode and Panorama. The dual rear cameras can also capture amazing AI driven portrait shots by naturally blurring the background. Apart from shooting full HD videos, it can also record 720p slow-motion videos.

The Redmi Note 5 is powered by a Snapdragon 636 chipset paired with 3GB, 4GB and 6GB of RAM on several versions. The models are available in 32GB, 64GB storage options. We expect to see the Redmi Note 5 price go south as new Redmi models get unveiled this year. Already, the Redmi S2, Redmi 6 and 6A are all out with attractive designs and affordable price tags.
