The Redmi Note 5 Pro runs Android Nougat out of the box but starting this Friday, you should receive a notification for the Android Oreo update.

The announcement was made by the official MIUI India Twitter account on Sunday, 25th of June. According to the tweet, the update will come as MIUI 9.5 and will roll out in phases. So if you do not receive it on Friday, it should arrive later.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to manually download the ROM from the MIUI site as the MIUI ROM download page has been shut down. Xiaomi says it is temporary but it has been off for almost three weeks now.

Apart from Android Oreo features such as autofill, picture-in-picture mode, new emojis and notification dots etc., the update will also bring some new features for MIUI. Some of them are an improved app lock, improved Mi Brower, a redesigned notification shade, and full-screen gesture navigation.
