The Mi 8 originally launched with 6GB of RAM with various storage configurations that maxed out at 256GB. Now, there is a new 8GB RAM model but it comes with 128GB of storage. What’s more is that Xiaomi has slapped the same ¥3299 (~$479) price tag of the 6GB RAM + 256GB ROM model on this new one too.
Apart from the larger memory, the rest of the specs are the same. The phone has a 6.21-inch FHD+ display with a notch at the top that houses an IR face scanner, a 20MP selfie camera, and the usual sensors.
There is a Snapdragon 845 processor under the glass body along with a 3,400mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 4.0. On the rear of the Mi 8 are two 12MP sensors with OIS and optical zoom. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the back.
The Mi 8 is the first smartphone in the world with dual-frequency GPS which location accuracy up to a decimeter-level. There is NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, and a USB-C port but just like its predecessor, the Mi 6, it also skips the 3.5mm audio jack.
