It is a common trend for Chinese smartphone makers to release special edition models of their phones. Some of the special edition models are usually based on pop culture including music groups and TV characters. So it wasn’t a surprise when Meitu announced it was going to release anime-based special edition models of the Meitu T9.

The manufacturer took to Weibo to announce that the Meitu T9 will get six new special edition models. Based on the attached picture, we can tell the special editions will be based on the following animes (or anime characters) – Sailor Moon, Doraemon, Dragon Ball Z, Hello Kitty, Sakura Kinomoto, and Chibi Maruko. The new models should be available starting September 17.

The Meitu T9, like other Meitu phones, is a camera-focused phone. It has dual pixel dual cameras on both sides. Meitu has also packed some new camera technology into the phone such as the Skeletal Point Identification Technology developed by Meitu Imaging Labs. This automatically adjusts body proportions for the best shot.

The phone packs a 6.01-inch AMOLED screen, a Snapdragon 660 processor, up to 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. It runs MeiOS 4.3 based on Android 8.1 Oreo and has a 3,100mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.
