At the beginning of this month, Xiaomi President Lin Bin shared an image of a mysterious Xiaomi phone with a 48-megapixel camera. Bin also confirmed that the smartphone would be made official in January 2019. Initial rumors had speculated that it could be a Mi series flagship phone, but multiple Chinese leaksters have been claiming that it could be a Redmi flagship phone. It is also being speculated that it could be the first phone to be fueled by the Snapdragon 675 chipset that was announced in October. A new leak has surfaced that points at that phone being the Redmi Pro 2, a successor to the 2016 Redmi Pro, Xiaomi’s first dual camera phone.

Teaser posters of the Redmi Pro 2 smartphone were leaked by a Weibo user on the microblogging site and one of them reveals that the Snapdragon 675 will be premiering on the Redmi Pro 2. Though it is a long shot, the rumor about the 48-megapixel camera phone having a Snapdragon 675 chipset has led some to presume the Redmi Pro 2 is the said device.

The Snapdragon 675 is an 11nm chipset that includes a pair of Cortex A76 CPU clocked at 2.0 GHz and hexa-core Cortex A55 working at 1.78 GHz. For graphics, it features an Adreno 612 GPU. The chipset supports capturing images of up to 48-megapixels. Hence, it is speculated that the mysterious Xiaomi phone with “48MP Camera” mentioned on its rear could be fueled by Snapdragon 675. The appearance of the leaked posters has given birth to rumors that the Redmi Pro 2 could be featuring Snapdragon 675 and 48-megapixel rear camera. There is no information available on the other specs of the rumored Redmi Pro 2 phone.
