Elephone A6 Mini coming soon with Waterdrop Notch & Android Pie

Elephone’s upcoming smartphone was just leaked in a new video. From the video, we can make out that the phone will be called as the Elephone A6 Mini. The leaked model comes in a shiny Blue color option with a unibody design. The color definitely stands out and will be something that you immediately like or hate. The company had showcased a dummy unit of the A6 Mini at the Global Sources Electronics Fair 2018 back in October but this is a clearly a working model. So, it looks like the phone is in the final stages of release. At that time, we had seen a gradient option for the device, but this is a single color variant.

The A6 Mini has a dual camera setup at the back with an LED flash just below it. In order to ensure that the back design is pretty clean, the company has decided to go with a side mounted fingerprint sensor. Elephone isn’t new to side mounted fingerprint sensors, as we have already seen the A4 with the same design. However, the right side of the phone will be a bit crowded considering the power button, volume buttons, as well as the fingerprint, lie on the same side. Further, the video confirms that the A6 Mini will feature a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack and a MicroUSB port at the bottom.

One of the highlights of the Elephone A6 Mini is going to be its waterdrop display. On first glance, the front design is a bit similar to the recently released Xiaomi Mi Play phone. Even the rear placement of the camera sensors have a Mi Play like-design. Apart from the waterdrop display, the Elephone A6 Mini will come with Android Pie out of the box. The phone was running Pie in the video and it’s expected that it will run on ELE UI with the new OS on top.

While specs are yet to be confirmed, the phone is expected to come in two variants, a 4G variant with MT6761 (2GB+16GB storage) and a 3G MT6580 (1GB+8GB storage) variant. So, its quite clear that the A6 Mini is targeted at the budget segment. We expect the phone to be released sometime in January.
