The Xiaomi Mi 9 SE was supposed to be available for purchase on Thursday, March 14, but it was canceled due to insufficient stock to warrant making it available for purchase.

Xiaomi‘s CEO, Lei Jun, announced yesterday that the phone will now go on sale on Tuesday, March 19. The Mi 9 SE will be available alongside the Mi 9 which already had its first sale but is still short on supply. There is no news yet of a new date for the Mi 9 Transparent Edition.

He also said in the post that he will join the production line if they are not able to meet the target of 1 million units of the Mi 9 series within the first month.

The Mi 9 SE is the cheapest of the three phones in the Mi 9 series and also the least powerful. However, it does pack some punch too. It is the first smartphone powered by a Snapdragon 712 processor which is the most powerful mid-range chipset currently.

The Mi 9 SE has an AMOLED display like the Mi 9 but its smaller at 5.97-inches. It is covered with Gorilla Glass 5 and has a Dot Drop notch. It comes with 6GB of RAM with 64GB or 128GB of built-in storage. On the back are three cameras – a 48MP primary sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide sensor, and an 8MP telephoto sensor; while the selfie camera is a 20MP sensor. It also has an in-display fingerprint scanner, a 3070mAh battery and runs Android 9 Pie out of the box. Price for the 64GB version is ¥1999 (~$298) while the 128GB version is ¥2299 (~$342).
