It is no news that Redmi is now an independent company but following today’s launch event, we now have a clearer view of what the company’s plans are. General Manager of Redmi, Lu Weibing, revealed at the event the direction the company will follow.

Redmi strategy and goals

The Redmi name has been associated with only smartphones but today, it launched its first non-phone product – the Redmi 1A washing machine. It also launched its first mobile accessory – the Redmi AirDots. Going forward, more products that are not smartphones will carry the Redmi name.

According to Mr. Weibing, Redmi will have its own ecosystem just like Xiaomi does. The ecosystem will include AIoT devices that connect to one another. The head of Redmi also outlined the company’s goals which are listed below

  • Adherence to “high-value low-price” tradition
  • Adherence to high-quality standards
  • Acceleration of global expansion
  • Launching of high-end smartphones
  • Expansion of portfolio: 5G, AIoT, and creation of Redmi ecosystem.
