Today through an unveil event in China, Redmi announced the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi 7 phones. When it comes to design, the Redmi 7 takes cues from the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Note 7 as it features a waterdrop-style notched display and a gradient back panel. It is the first Snapdragon 632 mobile platform phone from Redmi.
Redmi 7 Specifications and Features
The Redmi 7 has arrived with a screen that delivers HD+ resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels. It offers 19:9 aspect ratio and carries support for 84 percent NTSC colors. Since it is a TUV Rheinland display, the Redmi 7 users won’t experience eye fatigue since it effectively reduces the emission of harmful blue rays. The Corning Gorilla Glass 5 panel shields the large display of the phone.
The Snapdragon 632 SoC that powers the likes of Motorola Moto G7, G7 Play, Asus ZenFone Max M2, Meizu Note 8 and Honor 8C powers the Redmi 7 phone with up to 4 GB of RAM.
The Redmi 7 that comes loaded with MIUI 10 based Android 9 Pie can be purchased in storage variants of up to 64 GB. The handset supports larger fonts for easy readability. The large-sized 4,000mAh battery of the Redmi 7 can last for 400 hours on standby. Also, the Chinese manufacturer has included support for AI power saving features that improves the battery performance through system optimizations. With high-voltage power amplifier PA onboard, the Redmi 7 can produce 40 percent louder sound than the predecessor model.
The dual camera setup on its rear includes a 12-megapixel 1.25μm f/2.2 primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The main sensor is the same one that was available on the Xiaomi Mi 6 smartphone from 2017. On the front side of the Redmi 7 is a selfie shooter of 8-megapixel that is equipped with features like AI beauty and AI face unlock.
The Redmi 7 comes with other features like dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, Infrared remote control, microUSB 2.0 and 3.5mm audio jack. The device measures 158.65 x 76.43 x 8.47mm and weighs 180 grams. It comes with P2i splash-resistant coating.

Xiaomi Redmi 7 Price and Release Date

- 2 GB RAM + 16 GB storage – 699 Yuan (~$104)
- 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage – 799 Yuan (~$119)
- 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage – 899 Yuan (~$134)
The Redmi 7 comes in two gradient colors like Blue and Red apart from the Black model. The pre-sales for the phone begins today in China through Xioami Mall, Mi Home, Mi Store, Xiaomi Youpin, Jingdong Mall, Tmall, Suning and many more platforms simultaneously. The first sale of the phone will be carried out on March 26.
