Last month, Samsung officially launched its first foldable smartphone after years of waiting — Samsung Galaxy Fold. The device comes with a hidden hinge system with interlocking gears that allows you to fold and unfold the device.

Now the South Korean company has announced that the phone will be making its debut on 26th April in the US and Korea. Further, it’s also confirmed that the smartphone will be available for pre-orders in Europe on the same day and will start shipping from 6th May.

It will go on pre-orders in 15 markets — the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Romania, and Switzerland. As expected, the smartphone is priced at €2,000, which roughly converts to $2,263.

Samsung Galaxy Fold featured

All the customers will be getting a free pair of the new wireless Galaxy Buds, as well as a slim-design protective Kevlar case, along with one-year damage cover through Samsung Care+.

Coming to the specifications, when open, the Galaxy Fold smartphone presents a 7.3-inch Infinity Flex Display with a 1536 x 2152 resolution. In this mode, you can use three apps at the same time which Samsung calls Three-app Multitasking.

When folded into phone mode, it offers a 4.6-inch 840 x 1960 display. It comes with a feature called App Continuity which automatically adjust an app when you switch screens. It is powered by a 7nm processor paired with 12GB of RAM.

For the first time in a smartphone, it comes with UFS 3.0 storage with a 512GB capacity. Samsung says there are six cameras – three on the back (when folded in phone mode), one in front (also in phone mode), and two inside (in tablet mode). The camera module is made up of a 16MP ultra-wide camera, a 12MP telephoto camera, and another 12MP wide-angle camera. The selfie camera is a 10MP sensor.

The Galaxy Fold runs the latest Samsung One UI with Android 9 Pie operating system out-of-the-box. It packs a 4,380mAh battery which is split into two units. The phone is expected to be available in four colors — Martian Green, Astro Blue, Space Silver, and Cosmos Black.
