Last year, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor launches its Magic 2 smartphone, which is the successor of the Honor Magic launched in 2016. The Magic 2 comes with sliding mechanism design and is available in three colors — Gradient Red, Gradient Blue, and Gradient Black.

Now, the phone has received a new software update — version 9.0.0.182, which updates the phone’s built-in music app as well as upgrades the Android security patch level to March 2019.

In terms of design, the phone has a sliding screen that adopts five tracks to offer sturdiness over time along with an unmatched sliding experience. The Honor Magic 2 flaunts a 6.39-inch Full HD AMOLED display bearing a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

Under the hood, the device packs the company’s own Kirin 980 CPU ARM Cortex A76 octa-core processor, which is paired with Mali-G76 MP10 GPU. The handset packs either 6GB or 8GB RAM along with 128GB or 256GB of internal storage.

The smartphone boasts a triple rear camera setup, consisting of a 16MP f/1.8 RGB sensor, a 24MP f/1.8 Monochrome sensor, and a 16MP super wide-angle f/2.2 sensor. The cameras are packed with tons of features such as scene recognition (more than 1500 scenes), HDR wide-angle photography with night mode, AIS, AR mode, studio level 3D portrait mode and even 480fps slow-motion recording.

On the front side, the phone comes equipped with a 16MP f/2.0 camera and two 2MP f/2.4 depth-sensing camera sensors. There’s also an IR 3D face unlock system, in case you don’t want to use the in-display fingerprint scanner.

The phone runs on Honor’s Magic UI 2.0 which is based on Android Pie operating system. The phone also comes with an advanced AI Assistant called YOYO that packs tons of features, including a feature similar to Google’s Duplex. It is fuelled by a 3,400mAh battery with 40W fast charging support that is dubbed as Magic Charge.

As for the pricing, in China, the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage version costs ¥3799 (approx. $545) while the 8GB RAM + 128 storage model retails for ¥4299 (approximately $616). The 8GB RAM + 256GB version is priced at ¥4799, which roughly converts to $688.
