Many smartphone manufacturers have been trying to make a foldable smartphone since the past couple of years and finally, the year of 2019 is the year where the foldable smartphones are making their debuts.

While Samsung and Huawei have already launched their first foldable smartphone in the form of Galaxy Fold and Mate X, other smartphone manufacturers are also working on launching their own foldable smartphone.

Among those smartphone makers is Motorola, which is reportedly planning to launch Motorola RAZR (2019) — the company’s first foldable smartphone this year. As per the reports, it is designed in a way that the phone opens and closes vertically.

Now, Motorola’s parent company Lenovo is working on another foldable smartphone design, which the company has not patented. The patent shows a foldable clamshell smartphone with some similarities to the Motorola RAZR patent.

It has a flexible hinge that allows the user to fold the device in a couple of different ways. With a second screen on the bottom rear of the phone, this screen can be folded over to cover a small part of the main flexible screen. The phone can be folded again making the device more pocketable, protecting much of the display and revealing a small part of the top of the flexible screen. The front-facing camera will be placed in the top-bezel along with the earpiece. The primary camera setup will be placed on the phone’s back panel.
