More and more smartphone manufacturers are now adopting the full-screen display design and in order to achieve the same, the concept of a pop-up front-facing camera, punch-hole design as well as flip mechanism have come up.

Recently, OnePlus launched its all-new flagship lineup — OnePlus 7 (specs here!) and OnePlus 7 Pro. The Pro model of the device features a pop-up selfie camera mechanism. Unlike Samsung’s flagship smartphones, the phone doesn’t come with a punch-hole design.

Now, Pete Lau, co-founder and CEO of OnePlus has explained why the company didn’t opt for the punch-hole design for the front-facing camera sensor. He explains that the major issue was the size of the hole in the display. He also said that if the hole can be made smaller, the company would consider the cut-out display. Huang Zhang, founder, chairman, and CEO of Meizu Group also shares similar views.
