Xiaomi India has launched a new smartphone called Redmi Note 7S. The Chinese firm wanted to bring a 48-megapixel photography experience at a cheaper price. Hence, it has introduced the Redmi Note 7S with 48-megapixel dual camera with an attractive starting price of Rs. 10,999 (~$158). It also includes some other interesting features such as a big battery with support for 18W rapid charging and a display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7S Specifications and Features

The Redmi Note 7S borrows the 6.3-inch IPS LCD panel featuring a dot notch from the Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro smartphones. It offers full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. When it comes to design, the front and rear sides of the Note 7S is fitted with Gorilla Glass 5 panels.

The Snapdragon 660 SoC fuels the Redmi Note 7S. It comes in 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage editions. Both models are equipped with hybrid SIM slot for adding a microSD card. The Android 9 Pie OS customized with MIUI 10 skin runs on the device. It includes a 4,000mAh battery that supports 10W charging through a bundled charger. Redmi Note 7S users can separately buy a Quick Charge 4 charger to take advantage of 18W charging on the device.

The dual camera setup placed on the rear side of the Redmi Note 7S has a 48-megapixel Samsung GM1 sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a depth sensor of 5-megapixel. The photography features that are available for the dual rear cameras are PDAF, Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), AI Portrait mode and LED flash. The Note 7S is also optimized to shoot better images in low-light conditions. There is a 13-megapixel camera present inside the front notch of the phone. It can capture an AI-driven portrait shot.

The Redmi Note 7S has a fingerprint scanner and AI face unlock for security. Other features include dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, v5.0 Bluetooth, GPS, USB-C, and 3.5mm audio jack.

The Redmi Note 7S has identical specs as the Redmi Note 7 phone that was announced in February in India. The only major improvement on the Note 7S is the inclusion of a better dual camera setup. The Redmi Note 7 for India had a 12-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera system. Back in March, Xiaomi had launched the global edition of the Redmi Note 7 with 48-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup. So, it looks like the very same global edition model has been rebranded in India as the Redmi Note 7S.
