We expect the smartphone industry to continue to be driven by innovation fueled by stiff competition among manufacturers. Recently, a Youtuber recalled how he loathed the phablet size phones when they first made an entry. Fast-forward to the present, he says each time he stares at his iPhone 4, it looks like it is made for kids. We also have innovativeness to thank for the full-screen bezel-less design, sleek premium build, multiple camera setup with quality output and several others. Samsung could be gearing up to take us on another journey with the recent trademark filing made by the company.Samsung

A trademark filing in South Korea by Samsung for a Digital Bezel was spotted recently. The application was filed late last week with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO). Details of the what it entails wasn’t revealed but this could be the company’s innovative key-less design.

Samsung was reportedly testing key-less design for its upcoming Galaxy Note 10. In March this year, a rumour first appeared of a next-generation Note device that no longer has physical hardware keys. A recent leak about the Note 10’s render counters that expectation with renders showing the Galaxy Note 10 with traditional physical keys. The renders could as well be fake. However, we believe the trademark is an indication that Samsung is working on a device that won’t have a physical button but will have digital buttons on the bezels. Of course, we have gone past the era of large bezels on the screen borders. So whatever design Samsung is adopting, it has to be on a trimmed down bezel.
