Back in May, Xiaomi added a feature to MIUI beta called “Sky” that allowed you to change the sky in photos to any from a set of presets. Initially thought to be a future that will come with MIUI 11, the feature came bundled with the Xiaomi CC9e and Xiaomi CC9. Now, it has been revealed the feature is also available on the Redmi K20 series.

The announcement was made by Redmi GM, Lu Weibing, on Weibo today. If you own the Redmi K20 or Redmi K20 Pro, all you have to do is go to your gallery, select a photo with the sky in it and choose edit. Listed among the filters is one called “Sky”, scroll through them and choose the one that best fits. You should also be able to adjust the strength of the filter.

It is not clear if there is a new update for the phone or all you have to do is update your gallery app. Do let us know if you already have the feature and what you did to get it.

MIUI Sky replacement

As shown in a demo video by XDA-Developers back when it was available in beta, the feature also works for downloaded images as long as the sky shows in the photo. So you should be able to alter your favorite wallpapers too.

We expect the feature will most likely roll out to more devices as time goes on.
