So far, all phones with an in-display fingerprint scanner have an AMOLED display. About a year ago, there were reports that phones with LCD displays will also have in-display fingerprint scanners in 2019 but none has been announced yet.

Back in April, it was reported that the world’s LCD display with an in-display fingerprint scanner has been developed. Now a video of a Huawei phone rocking the new technology has surfaced on the web.

The alleged Huawei phone is hidden in a case that hides the bulk of the design but we can see it has no notch nor punch hole. Based on this, we presume it has a pop-up selfie camera.

The unlock process is put at 300ms, a little faster than that of the OnePlus 6T which unlocks in 0.34 seconds.

We do not know if this is a prototype phone designed for the sole purpose of testing the LCD in-display fingerprint sensor technology or this is a Huawei phone set to launch soon. If it is the latter, more details should surface soon.
