Huawei is rolling out a new update to its flagships – the Huawei P30 and the Huawei P30 Pro. The update which is rolling out in China brings a bunch of new features and optimizations but the most interesting one is Super Night Mode for the selfie camera.
The update (EMUI 9.1.0.193) is rolling out to the Huawei P30 with model numbers ELE-AL00 and ELE-TL00, and to the Huawei P30 Pro with model numbers VOG-ALOO, VOG-AL10, and VOG-TL00.
With Super Night Mode now available for the front camera, owners can now take brighter selfies in low-light environments. We haven’t seen camera samples yet but we expect them to surface when the update gets a wider roll-out.
The changelog for the update also brings a video editing feature to the gallery, optimizes the fingerprint scanner (Huawei recommends setting up the fingerprint scanner afresh to see the new improvements), default activation for VoLTE calls for China Telecom users, Bluetooth support for Huawei Gentle Monster Smart Glasses, and August’s security patch.
The changelog may be slightly different when it begins to arrive for users outside China but everyone should get the Super Night Mode for the 32MP selfie camera on both phones.
The Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro were released in the first quarter of the year. They are both powered by the Kirin 980 chipset but that is practically where the similarities end. The P30 Pro has a bigger screen, more cameras, a bigger battery, support for wireless charging, support for a faster wired charging technology, an IR port, and an IP68 rating. The P30 is, of course, less expensive and has an audio jack which the Pro variant doesn’t have.
