Update: Amazfit Sports Watch 3 Star Wars Limited Edition added.

Huami said it was going to launch more than 10 smartwatches this year and it sure is ready to keep that promise. It already announced the Amazfit Bip Lite, the Amazfit Verge Lite, the Amazfit GTR, the Amazfit Verge 2, and the Amazfit Health Watch. Today, it has taken the wraps off the Amazfit GTS, the Amazfit Sports Watch 3, and the Amazfit X which is a concept watch with a flexible display.

Amazfit GTS featured

Amazfit GTS

The Amazfit GTS can be termed the true successor to the Amazfit Bip. It does give off some serious Apple Watch vibes but costs significantly less than Apple’s latest offering, which isn’t surprising since the GTS comes with fewer features.

The Amazfit GTS is gorgeous with its minimalist look. With a price tag that roughly converts to $125, you get a 1.65-inch Super Retina-grade AMOLED screen (348 x 442) with a 341ppi, covered with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 curved tempered glass, and embedded in a steel frame. Huami says it settled for a rectangular dial as it can fit more information than a circular dial with the same screen size. There are up to 100 different watch faces to choose from; forty will be available out of the box with more to follow later. The watch uses a 20mm quick release silicone strap.

The watch can track a total of 12 main sports including cycling, running (indoor, treadmill), swimming, hiking, skiing, and weightlifting. It has support for GPS+GLONASS. The Amazfit GTS also has a BioTracker PPG optical heart rate sensor 24-hour heart rate monitoring. Huami says an OTA update in November 2019 will bring arrhythmia screening.

The watch connects via Bluetooth 5.0. It also has NFC with support for subways and bus stations in 255 cities in China. There is a 220mAh battery that will last up to 14 days for regular usage (notifications, NFC, heart rate monitoring, sleep monitoring, running 3 times a week with GPS on for 30 minutes for each exercise). In basic watch mode (Bluetooth, heart rate monitoring and other functions turned off) it will last up to 46 days on a single charge. For a continuous workout with GPS turned on permanently, it will last 25 hours. The watch takes 2 hours to charge. It is waterproof up to 50 meters so it is suitable for swimming, showering, snorkeling, and will survive in the rain. However, it won’t survive deep water swimming, scuba diving, and high-speed water sports.

Amazfit GTS all colors

The Amazfit GTS comes in six different colors. There is pink, blue, meteorite black, beige, and red. The watch has a price tag of ¥899 and is already available for pre-order on Tmall, it will go on sale on September 24. Unfortunately, only the Meteorite Black variant is available.

The Amazfit Sports Watch 3 (should launch globally as the Amazfit Stratos 3) has the name says is for sports enthusiasts and professional athletes. The Sports Watch 3 comes in two versions – a Standard Edition and an Elite Edition.

The watch rocks a 1.34-inch JDI Full-Moon™ reflective low-power color display. The display is said to be specially designed for outdoor use and Huami says the stronger the light, the clearer the display. The standard edition is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, has a stainless steel bezel and uses quick-release silicone straps while the Elite Edition is covered with AF+AR coated sapphire glass, has a titanium bezel, and uses quick-release fluoro-rubber straps. There are four buttons on both versions of the watch.

Amazfit Sports Watch Elite Edition

The Amazfit Sports Watch 3 has dual processors and dual operating systems. One chip and operating system for the professional sports mode (sport mode) and another chip and operating system for regular smartwatch mode (ultra mode). Huami says there is a small amount of waiting time when switching between operating systems and that features of the ultra mode will get better with future updates.

The Sports Watch 3 has 512MB of LPDDR3 RAM and 4GB of eMMC storage though only 1.9GB is available out of the box. A built-in music player is also available so you can store songs on it and play via Bluetooth earbuds/headphones. The watch can track a total of 19 different sports mode. It also has FIRSTBEAT support which is the preferred heartbeat analysis by sports professionals. It also supports VO2 max measurement and has a BioTracker PPG heart rate sensor with 24-hour monitoring.

The Amazfit Sports Watch 3 has a 300mAh battery and takes 2 hours to charge. In Smart Mode, the watch will last 7 days on a single charge while in ultra mode it will last 14 days. GPS mode will last up to 35 hours with high accuracy, 45 hours with moderate accuracy, and 70 hours when in power-saving GPS mode. Users will be able to choose from three navigation combinations – GPS + Beidou, GPS + GLONASS, or GPS + Galileo. There is also NFC with support for AliPay (offline too) and bus and subway payments (12 cards, 255 cities).

The Amazfit Sports Watch 3 is also available for pre-order on Tmall for ¥1299 (~$181). The Elite Edition is not yet available for pre-order but will sell for ¥1699 (~$237).
