“The future of smartphones is coming…tomorrow!” That is the rider with which Xiaomi is promoting the scheduled September 24 launch event on its official YouTube channel. The Chinese tech giant is expected to go ballistic with its 5G products as it launches not one but two 5G smartphones – the Mi MIX 5G and Mi 9 Pro. Not only that, the tech giant will also announce the next version of its custom Android skin – MIUI 11.
Three years ago when Xiaomi launched the Mi Mix, the smartphone revolutionized the industry with its spectacular full-screen, bezel-less design. The tech giant may once again be looking to revolutionize the industry with the Mi MIX 5G which may likely launch as Mi Mix Alpha. The device would have been launched as the Mi Mix 4 but for a cour ruling which bars the firm from using the MIX moniker. The MIX Alpha is said to adopt a wraparound screen which means the bezels on all four sides would be removed, giving it a 100% screen ratio.

Xiaomi will also unveil the Mi 9 Pro 5G, a massively upgraded member of the Mi 9 series. The series is also made up of the Mi 9, Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro, Mi 9 SE and Mi 9 Lite. Xiaomi obviously saved the best for the last as the Mi 9 Pro is expected to come with a spectacular design and top-of-the-line hardware lineup including a 5G modem.

Xiaomi will take the wraps off the two smartphones and the MIUI 11 on September 24 (that is tomorrow). The event will be held in Beijing at 14.00 GMT +8 but you can live stream the event from Xiaomi’s official Youtube channel from around the world.
