The iPhone case industry is probably largest than any other device out there and almost all iPhone users use one. Besides, it would be a bit naive to leave a $1000-device unprotected. Thus, the market is filled with all kinds of designs and flashy cases. But what about when someone is a gamer and the common cases aren’t enough? The gaming peripheral company GameSir responds to the challenge with a mobile gaming case.

It’s been almost a week since we received the case and it comes in a simple but no cheap box. Inside the box, there a black GameSir i3 case, a USB Type-C cable, the manual, and a “Thank-You” note. All look great.

Actually, the case looks like any other simple case out there at first sight and it is rather soft and cool because of the soft-touch coating. The back hosts a backlit logo that lights up when you activate the case. The back is not flat but has a little hump that is the battery and also serves as a handle when gaming. There is also a Type-C port at the bottom side used to charge the 180mAh battery. Also, the right side is equipped with two trigger buttons.

iPhone model compatibility

GameSir i3

Since iPhone models have some differences in size and camera placement, the company covers these iPhone models: iPhone6 Plus, iPhone7 Plus, iPhone8 Plus, iPhoneX, iPhoneXs, iPhoneXs Max, iPhoneXR. Really impressive since most manufacturers only cover one, maybe two generations of models.

Gaming experience

And now for the most important part: Gaming experience. The phone used was iPhone XS Max and the test game was the popular PUBG. If you are a PUBG fan, you must be wondering why other fingers except your thumbs can’t contribute to your controlling. Aiming, shooting, moving, tactical positioning, view. All these actions are done by your thumbs since iPhone isn’t a gaming console and lacks more buttons. This is easily fixed with the i3 case: the “Left” trigger is used for aiming while the “Right” is used for shooting. And the thumbs do what they should naturally do: the left thumb controls moving while the other one controls view. Finally, a case that transforms the iPhone into a gaming console since iOS is the top mobile platform for game developing out there.

GameSir i3

To conclude, the GameSir i3 comes to complete the avalanche of iPhone cases in the market and can become a useful accessory for a hardcore gamer. Of course, it can be improved even more since the hump on the back is a bit annoying depending on the game you are playing. Also, it is a bit chunky and using it as a standard case so that you won’t have to change cases every time you want to play, would be a bit awkward.
