Chinese smartphone manufacturer Tecno has just expanded its Indian portfolio with the launch of the Camon 12 Air. The Camon is a budget-friendly smartphone sporting a triple-camera setup at the rear. It is the first smartphone from Tecno to feature a punch-hole selfie camera. The Tecno Camon 12 Air has arrived in the subcontinent, following the successful debut of the Tecno Spark 4, which arrived in India back in September this year.

The Tecno Camon 12 Air flaunts a 6.55-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels, screen-to-body ratio of 90.3% and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The screen features a punch-hole camera housing the selfie camera. The device draws power from a 2Ghz octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 SoC with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. The smartphone features expandable storage up to 256GB using a microSD card.

The triple-camera setup on the Tecno Camon 12 Air includes a 16-megapixel primary lens with an aperture rating of f/1.8, a 2-megapixel depth sensor and a 5-megapixel 120-degree wide-angle sensor with quad-LED flash. AI assistance includes AI HDR, AI Beauty, Bokeh Mode and Google Lens. The front camera is an 8-megapixel unit with an 81-degree field of view for a wide-angle view. The Camon 12 Air features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and face unlock for security.

Powering the Tecno Camon 12 Air is a 4,000 mAh battery with AI Power Management for enhanced usage. The smartphone runs on Android 9.0 Pie-based hiOS 5.5. Connectivity options include dual 4G LTE, Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 3.5mm headphone port, GPS, A-GPS and GLONASS. The device measures 164.29 x 76.3 x 8.15 mm and weighs 172 grams.

Tecno Camon 12 Air Price and Availability

Tecno launched the Camon 12 Air in India on Oct. 12 at a base price of Rs. 9,999 (~$141). The smartphone is available in two color options, namely Stellar Purple and Baby Blue.
