Chinese TV maker Hisense and Korean tech giant LG Electronics are set to lock horns in court. LG is a household name in the electronics industry and Hisense is also a brand wIt a strong presence in consumer electronics products, best known for its TVs. Hisense is particularly a popular brand in the US. LG has sued Hisense for allegedly infringing on four of its patents. In the suit filed before a US court, LG claims that most of the Hisense TV models being sold in the US use as many as four of its patented technologies.oled tv

In the suit filed with the District Court of California, LG demanded Hisense stop using its patented technologies and pay damages. court filing details the infringed patents to include those that improve user interface and speed up data transmission based on Wi-Fi.

Hisense has aggressively been expanding its operations in the US in recent times. Apart from its blossoming US market, Hisense is also growing astronomically in other parts of the world. The brand was ranked as the world’s fourth-largest TV provider by sales in the first half of the year. It has been aggressively expanding its operations in the US.

Hisense U9eQuite interestingly, LG and Hisense retail stores are usually situated side-by-side in most cities I have visited. But that doesn’t in any way suggest they are partners. LG seems to have stepped up measures aimed at curbing patent violations by both global and domestic rivals. LG reportedly sued three European home appliance manufacturers at a court in Munich in September alleging that they infringed its ice-making patents for side-by-side refrigerators. According to Jeon Saeng-gyu, executive vice president at LG Electronics, “The company will take stern measures against patent infringements in order to protect its intellectual property.”
