TCL has announced a brand new tablet for kids under the Alcatel brand. The tablet which is called the JOY TAB KIDS joins the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A Kids Edition (2019) and the Amazon Fire HD10 Kids Edition as tablets designed specifically for children.

The JOY TAB KIDS has a teal-colored body. It wraps around the screen quite well and should be able to withstand the not-so-gentle handling by kids judging from its thickness. It also has a neon green handle that doubles as a kickstand and that folds neatly on the back.

The tablet has an 8-inch 1280 x 800 screen with thick bezels at the top and bottom. It is powered by MediaTek’s MT8765A 1.5GHz quad-core processor along with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The JOY TAB KIDS also has a 5MP camera on each side and packs a 4080mAh battery.

TCL ships it with Android 9 Pie out of the box with kids content such as books, videos, and games from Kidomi. There is also a parental control so you can set usage time and customize features.

The Alcatel JOY TAB KIDS will be available on T-Mobile starting Friday, November 15. The price has not yet been revealed but T-Mobile has a tablet with identical specs called the JOY TAB (with LTE) but without the bumper case priced at $168. This should give you an idea of how much the JOY TAB KIDS will cost.
