Along with the major tech giants, Facebook is also working on dark mode for its Android App as reported by several users. It has become a necessity for the users to turn their displays black during the night time to resist unnecessary exposure from blue light.

Some users on Reddit have shared the Facebook dark mode screenshots dated a couple of months ago. Similarly, screenshots depicting the dark mode are even shared on Twitter profiles of the users named Nagesh Bande and Lock. Surprisingly, the dark mode is spotted only on Android phones.

According to the posted screenshots, Facebook will darken the whole UI with greyish color rather than pure dark. The text color changes to a light greyish color to match the contrast. However, any screenshot hasn’t confirmed, but we hope there will be an AMOLED optimized mode with a pure black background.

However, Facebook has not confirmed anything officially about the dark mode, but we expect the feature to roll out very soon.

Apart from the dark mode, the social media giant is also testing the Favorite’s feature like Instagram’s Close Friends. While talking to TechCrunch, a reverse engineer confirms the new feature development. The user can manually add ten friends to the favorite list and then can individually send status updates and other stories. The feature is developed by the Messenger team and is expected to be out for public use very soon.

Other manufacturers like Google, Microsoft, and others have already started rolling out dark mode support for their respective services and products. Facebook-owned WhatsApp is also in the process of bringing it on Android as well as the Web app.
