The Vivo V17 is finally coming to India sometime in December 2019. The Chinese smartphone maker is yet to make a formal announcement regarding a tentative deadline for launch. Vivo unveiled the Vivo S1 Pro in some Southeast Asian markets recently and rebranded it as Vivo V17 in Russia. According to a fresh report on 91mobiles, the Indian variant might feature minor differences compared to its international counterparts. Vivo has reportedly scheduled a product training session for its Indian partners between November 29 and December 8. The V17 is expected to launch shortly thereafter.

While the overall specifications and design could remain the same. The Indian edition of the Vivo V17 is expected to flaunt a punch-hole camera according to sources familiar with Vivo’s designing and marketing strategies. Hence replacing the waterdrop notch present on the global variant. Vivo will likely change the design considering the demand for punch-hole displays in the subcontinent. India being one of the major smartphone markets for Vivo, the company might try to appease its customers by offering a more premium look, akin to the Samsung Galaxy S10.

Even though the exact specifications of the Indian V17 are currently unknown. The device headed to India is expected to be similar to the recently-unveiled Russian variant in terms of hardware and features. The Russian variant flaunts a 6.38-inch Super AMOLED full-HD+ display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 665 chipset with 8  GB of RAM and 128 GB of native storage that is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.

The primary attraction of the Vivo V17 is its diamond-shaped quad-camera setup at the rear. The primary camera uses a 48-megapixel Samsung GM1 sensor, paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The front camera uses a 32-megapixel sensor. The Vivo V17 draws power from a 4,500mAh battery with support for 18W fast charge. The smartphone runs on Android 9.0 Pie based Funtouch OS 9.2. Security measures include an in-display fingerprint scanner and Face Unlock.

Vivo V17 Price and Availability (Rumored)

According to the publication, the Vivo V17 will launch in India by the second week of December with a price tag of Rs. 22,000 (~$308). The smartphone is available in two shades of blue in Russia, namely Fog Blue and Cloud Blue.
