The Redmi K30 5G is shaping up to be an interesting device with so many firsts. It will be Redmi’s first phone with a 120Hz refresh rate; its first phone with a punch-hole display; and its first phone with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. It may also be the first phone to launch with Qualcomm’s new mid-range 5G mobile processor. Now, there is a high chance that it may be the first phone to come with Sony’s new IMX686 camera sensor.

Sony gave us a glimpse of the IMX686’s prowess in a marketing video early last month. We were pretty impressed by the capabilities of the sensor, and now a leak says the 64MP sensor will be bundled with the Redmi K30.

The info was shared on Weibo by Digital Chat Station, a blogger and reliable leakster.

According to his tweet, the phone will have a 64MP Sony IMX686 camera with an f/1.89 aperture and a 1/1.73” sensor size. The camera will be paired with an 8MP sensor, a 5MP sensor, and a 2MP sensor to make up a quad-camera setup.

The Redmi K30 has its rear cameras arranged vertically. However, the setup sits inside a ring reminiscent of the Huawei Mate 30 series or OnePlus 7T.

When it launches on December 10, the phone will pack an LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a large punch hole for two selfie cameras. It will have NFC, support for SA and NSA 5G networks, support for 27W fast charging, and run Android 10 out of the box.
