The Youpin crowdfunding platform has played host to yet another product from Xiaomi‘s ecological chain company Viomi. The Viomi Deodorizer and Sterilizer adopt a crowdfunding price of just 59 yuan (~$8).
The device is said to have the capability to actively release safe Chlorine dioxide (ClO2) sterilization gas. The vapour can effectively eliminate common bacteria in the refrigerator such as E. coli, Listeria, Salmonella, Staphylococcus aureus, etc. It is effective up to 99.999% against these microbes. Thus, it can help prolong the fresh storage cycle.
In case you don’t know what it is, Chlorine dioxide (ClO2) is a safe disinfectant approved by the World Health Organization (WHO). The compound consists of one chlorine atom and two oxygen atoms. It is used for a variety of antimicrobial uses, including the disinfection of drinking water. It is a common material for food disinfection, sterilization in public environments, and preservation. It is safe for the elderly, children or pets at home.

Compared with disinfection liquid and disinfection powder, Viomi Deodorizer and Sterilizer has a wider range of uses. It can be placed in wardrobes, shoe cabinets, kitchen cabinets, refrigerators and other locations. It not only eliminates bacteria in the enclosed area but also eliminates musty and odour. It equally eliminates the various odours caused by the deterioration of ingredients, such as rotten eggs, rotten vegetables, fish odour, carrion, etc.
The machine adopts a stylish design and doesn’t require electricity. The product works with the Chlorine Oxide gel which brownish-yellow in colour and the gas is circulated via convection.
