Despite the recent pandemic, it seems that Xiaomi and Redmi are still going ahead with smartphone launches. The Chinese tech giant is apparently looking to further expand its Redmi K30 lineup, which consists of the Redmi K30, Redmi K30 5G, Redmi K30 Pro and Redmi K30 Pro Zoom. The Redmi K30i is the latest that is rumored to join the series but will basically be the entry level, being even cheaper than the base 4G variant of the K30.

Unfortunately, finer details regarding the device is currently unknown, but Xiaomishka did share certain information regarding the K30i as well. According to a tweet shared, the Redmi K30i will essentially serve as the “Lite” variant, and will thus feature a 48 megapixel primary rear sensor over the 64 megapixel one found on the K30 5G. We can expect other specs to see a small cut as well, to reduce the overall costs.
Speaking of cost, it is also rumored that the Redmi K30i will launch for a price of around 1,799 Yuan (this roughly translates to about 254 US Dollars). At the moment, other internals are still at large but other rumors have pointed at MediaTek’s Dimensity 800 SoC replacing the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. This will allow the device to be cheap but still support 5G networking.
