Xiaomi went official with the Mi 10 Youth 5G in China earlier this week. There have been speculations and rumours that the Mi 10 Youth will launch outside China as Mi 10 Lite Zoom Edition. Xiaomi has officially confirmed the moniker by referring to the Mi 10 Youth as Mi 10 Lite Zoom Edition in a blog post.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite Zoom The post happens to be the official announcement of the products which Xiaomi launched on April 27. Apart from the Mi 10 Youth and MIUI 12, other products unveiled on that day include the Mi Bluetooth Earphones (Line Free Edition) and Mi Watch Color Keith Haring Edition.

The Mi 10 Youth is obviously the star product and there are several reasons why. The device comes with affordable pricing which makes it the brand’s cheapest 5G phone. Perhaps, the main highlight is the 50X zoom camera which it features.

The Mi 10 Lite Zoom moniker didn’t emerge straight out of the blue. Apart from rumours, Qualcomm recently confirmed the name when it listed the Mi 10 Lite Zoom among the new models that would feature the newly announced Quick Charge 3+.

In addition, it could be recalled that during the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro global launch in Europe, Xiaomi took the wraps off the Mi 10 Lite 5G powered by a Snapdragon 765G processor. The Mi 10 Lite and this new Mi 10 Lite Zoom feature similar designs and configurations. They two models have a waterdrop notch design, same display size and 16MP selfie sensor. The main sensor at the rear is also a 48MP sensor on both models.Mi 10 Lite 5G

The major difference is the telephoto camera which the Zoom Edition has. The 8MP telephoto lens with 50x zoom support is bigger than the other sensors. Aside from that, the Quad-cameras and LED flash are arranged in a similar pattern with the Mi 10 Lite. Thus, it is safe to refer to this edition as a Mi 10 Lite with an upgraded camera (for those who fancy a zoom lens).

There is no word yet on when this model will be available outside China. We expect Xiaomi to launch this model soon as it attempts to ramp up sales amidst the Coronavirus pandemic.
