There’s a new trending app on Google Play Store in India called Remove China Apps. This app currently ranks first in a number of categories. As the name suggests, it scans Chinese apps on Android devices and uninstalls them.
The COVID-19 outbreak, India-China border dispute, and other things have led to boycott China movement in India. Making use of this situation, a company going by the name of OneTouch AppLabs published an app called Remove China Apps on Google Play Store on May 17.
Since its release, the app has been downloaded by over 1 million (10 lakh) users. With an overall rating of 4.8, the app now ranks first in all the applicable categories like Overall, Applications, and Tools in both Top New and Top New Free.
According to the description on the Play Store listing, the app is meant for educational purpose to identify the country of origin of apps installed on users’ smartphones. However, it only identifies Chinese apps and helps the users uninstall them with a direct toggle to system app uninstall option.
Lastly, it is worth noting that this app only identifies the Chinese apps installed from the Play Store. It cannot identify pre-installed Chinese apps on any smartphone.
