Google is expected to announce a new Android TV dongle this year. The device which is codenamed “Sabrina” has been in the news lately and we already have an idea of what it will look like. if you are wondering what it will pack inside, then you are at the right place.
A leak has revealed the specifications of the Android TV dongle, and actually, the specs are not unusual. According to XDA-Developers, Sabrina will have 2GB of RAM and will come with Amlogic’s S905X2 chipset. The processor is built on a 12nm node, has four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz while the GPU is Arm’s Mali-G31 MP2.
This is a pretty popular chipset used in several Android TV devices and set-top boxes. It supports 4K decoding (4Kp75) and can output 4Kp60 over HDMI 2.1. It also supports HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision.
Sabrina will also come with a Broadcom BCM43569 Bluetooth+Wi-Fi chip and will have a feature called ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode). ALLM is a feature that will automatically toggle on game mode on TVs with the feature. Game Mode actually reduces latency when playing games on a TV and it appears Sabrina will be able to automatically turn it on on supported TVs. This feature is believed to point at Sabrina having support for Google’s game streaming service, Stadia.
Other details revealed about the dongle include having a Bluetooth remote with support for a long-press action for one of the keys. The remote is also believed to have dedicated buttons for Netflix and YouTube.
